You need to have a custom recovery to do a "battery ass wipe", and for that you need to be rooted. I don't think you can do it with the stock recovery. Battery is probably on its way out. EDIT: You can do it with the stock recovery, you just need to be rooted. It's stored under /data/system/batterystats.bin Just delete that file.

Any smartphone will have some kind of calendar/organizer/planner on it, with other apps available for download. Chances are her current phone even has those capabilities.

Ipad apps don't work on Android, but most apps can be found on both platforms. So yes, you would have to re-download them. Nice thing about video calling on Android is that you don't have to be on wifi.
