    Don't limit yourself to a three yr or newer bike. This is Ohio. There are tons of low mileage older bikes out there that are in brand new condition. With 6k to play with, you can have pretty much whatever you want if you lift the age restriction and are prudent in your search.

    The north end has less traffic, but I'd actually recommend starting out at door run. There are smaller loops down there that you can ride that are beginner trails and you'll never be far from your vehicle if you want to take a break. The trick with keeping kids interested in riding is to keep them in their comfort zone and not wear them out to quick. Lots of breaks and snacks/water. I'm assuming your son is a beginner.

    It was a good deal, and they are out there, but, I bought it at the end of the season after looking for that specific model for months. I conducted a methodical search of the eastern US through many different used bike sites, CL, etc. and in the end, Gump found it in the bike trader in PA. I won't buy any vehicle new. Credit unions have good rates on used bikes if you don't have cash.

    ^this!! I bought my FZ1 used with 749 miles for $4900. It retails for over $10k. Used deals are out there, but may be harder to find this time of year.

    Losing a pet is never easy. Gump, I didn't know you had to put your dog down your self. As I've always told you, I will do it for you when necessary because I know you would do it for me. I don't think I could ever put a bullet in my own dog.
