  4. Very cool story Max......One I'm sure you'll be tellin' your grandkids & take to the grave!! Yeah......It's kinda weird how they said in the article Steeler's are dying disproportionately faster than the rest of the league. I've met Donnie Shell from those 70's teams. He was in line with us at the Hall of Fame inductions. People in front & back of us were all whisperin' "Is that him...I think it is", so I turned around, looked at his hands for a Super Bowl ring, checked his name tag, then informed him "You're Donnie Shell!!" He just kinda laughed. I asked him why he had to stand in line with the rest of us peons, and when they were finally gonna induct him (This was the year Stallworth got in, & Swanny had gone in the year before.....Got a funny story about my "meeting" with Lynn too that I'll have to tell 'ya someday). Anyways....Got to talk with Donnie while we were waiting in line, and he was nice enough to take a picture with me. I'll have to scan it & post it up in here Couldn't get his autograph 'cause IIRC, this was first year after 9-11 & first year in Fawcett stadium, so they weren't letting any bags or anything inside, and I had just run my Sharpie & autograph ball back out to the car.....like 1/4 mile away Oh well.......Had I not done that, I would've never ended up back in line right in front of him Met Yancey Thigpen & Roethlisberger before too. Got autographs from both & pix with Thig. Yance was in town about 10 years ago at a local sporting goods store for a signing session. Took my boys & put them in my old Steeler's shirts from when I was young....Very cool! Ben's another story all by itself, since I dooo live in RoethlisBurg......I'll have to find it & post later
  5. Tornadoes again earlier tonight. Had these freakish lookin' red clouds swirlin' right over my house
  6. Only 58 years old ............. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080607/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbn_obit_dwight_white;_ylt=Ash2nTlTO00FVMfFb7UJfmsLMxIF
  7. C'mon Beaver.......Don't bail on us already! This is because I asked you if you were gonna do the group shot with the stadium, ain't it?!? BTW......Just read Dwight White passed away today....Only 58
  8. .......But I'd prefer if it was naked & non life threatening!!!
  9. The new RR had the fastest lap in Motorcyclist's shootout last month, but still ended up getting nudged out by the ZX in the overall. Nothing but praise in every article I've read about it so far....Other than they don't think the fit/finish is up to Honda's usual meticulous standards And they think the powerband needs fine tuned
  10. I know this isn't a "shop", but didn't see a "Gear Review" area, so figured this was the next closest forum Just got their 800# off their website, and called with a couple questions about my new pants, as well as a couple other models they make. Pam picked up on the 2nd ring, was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about their product line, didn't hurry me off the phone, and had some great advice about fitting your gear. She even gave me her email addy if I wanted to get ahold of her that way.......Pam@fieldsheer.com. BIG thumbs up for her & the company so far!! BTW......I'd also heard from someone else that they manufacture the gear for a couple other big names as well, who then put their label on it.....One of them being an "American" apparel company?
  11. AHA!! I could never figure out who was gettin' tackled in your avatar, & kept meanin' to ask you
  12. I always thought they were more yuppie wannabes. His coffee roasting & wine making comment kinda confirmed it for me
  13. Does Verizon allow Sim cards.....'Cause Alltel does not. Also........Been with Alltel since '96-97......Back when it was 360 Communications. You can change your rate plan with them anytime....whethter up or down, and they don't re-start your contract. That's VERY nice. They also give you free mobile to mobile....no matter which network they're on....Also VERY nice. They also give you the "MyCircle" numbers......5-10 or 20 numbers depending on what size plan you've got, that you can call free without counting against your minutes. Does seem though like maybe Verizon gets newer devices sooner, and has better deals/rate plans, but I can't say for sure. BTW.......Whatever happened to the original Sprint dork in the commercials? He's been replaced in this most recent "Wizard" series
  14. LOVE that shirt SpaceGhost!!! Funny 'cause it's ohhhhh so true!
  15. Funny this should come up.......On our way down to the Pony Sunday, we had not one....but 2 sportbike guys snub us when we waved to them. One of them had one of those dumbass squid/stunta spikey mohawk things on top of his helmet. Now I'm used to the Harley guys not wavin' back (I'm not as much of an idealist as Ben).....but 2 of our own?!? Kinda pissed me off
  16. LIfted this from another site..........
  17. Just saw on the news right now that Hitlery & BHO snuck away from their homes/jet, entourages, etc......and met at Senator Diana Feinstein's house for a super double secret meeting to "discuss the future of the party" Let's start a pool here........I say there's an announcement by next Friday that Hitlery is his VP running mate....It WILL be Friday the 13th after all!! Any takers? Post up your guess by adding yours to mine below, & cut/paste into your reply. If you think he'll ask someone else, post that guess then Fonz: Hitlery Friday 6/13

+1 If you go 2 piece, make sure your jacket & pants each have a zipper to connect/mate to each other. Then they kinda make a one piece when you need to. It'll be in the back of the waistband on the pants, bottom back of the jacket. When you find something you like, try www.newenough.com & see if they've got it. They usually have solid prices, GREAT customer service, and they'll donate $1 of your purchase price to the bikesite of your choice. As far as brands go......Only brand I've heard bad things about lately are Tecknic...specifically their Chicane pants. Heard from multiple people I know, and more than that online, that there was a problem with the seams bursting at crunch time. Online friend's jacket sleeve seam burst, but still protected him OK, and he took a hell of a slide......but'cha never know. He may've just got lucky. I'm a big fan of CE rated armor when you can find it. It's getting more & more prevalent. It's the top safety rating in armor. I don't have much faith in some of the other stuff, like dual density etc. Remember.....Just because a brand does a lot of advertising, and seems cool, doesn't necessarily mean it's the best protection for your $$$. Don't get suckered in by their slick ad campaigns & end up buying image over substance! As far as leather in Texas.......You can get perforated leather. My AGV jacket is combo perf leather in the impact areas (outer sleeves, shoulders, outer torso), with abrasion resistant mesh around the inner torso. Very cool, even in HOT weather, comes with an extra liner for colder temps, and had CE armor in shoulders & elbows. Found a GREAT deal on eBay for it last year.......$75 brand new. Supposedly had smoke damage, but I never could smell anything, and wasn't worried about that anyways. Figured any scent of smoke would air out after a couple rides Been lookin' at pants since last season. Wanted a breathable, waterproof textile with CE armor. Finally decided on Fieldsheer Booster pants after trying a couple others that didn't fit so well & had to be shipped back. Got 'em on closeout down at Iron Pony on Sunday for $99. Went down there so I could try on a bunch of different kinds this time, and see what fit best. Tried on about 5 different kinds/pairs/sizes before I decided those fit best. Previously, I'd ordered 2 different pairs online, without trying them on physically. Both pairs were the same size, but from different manufacturers. One pair was too big, the other too small, so as WhoDey said above, each brand fits different. Boots I got are SetUp. They're a track style boot with decent protection for the $$$. You can spend upward of $3-400 bucks for top end track boots, but IMO, those are for the top end riders. That's not me. I felt these offered good protection in the necessary places, & were much cheaper. Plus SetUp is a sister company of Sidi, and every review I've ever read about them was solid, and praised them as a great value. They normally run ~$120, which is a good price on it's own, but I found a guy on one of my boards who was selling his for $90 shipped......barely worn. He even sent them to me in the original box, and they looked brand new, so I felt like I got a heck of a deal!! Again....just gotta do your homework, shop around.....and be patient 'til you find what you want...It's out there Just shop around & do your homework before you spend any money. I always ask a lot of questions on places like this before I make my decison. I'm a budget/value shopper with a family of 6, and good riding gear can be expensive, so I don't like to waste my money on junk/mistakes, and then have to spend more. You'll find gear's a highly personal choice, and people tend to have strong opinions on it. You'll learn more about it continually, the longer you ride Hopefully this wasn't to long for you & it's useful info
