  1. im not done yet brennan lol. but it wont be show bike clean, ill probably just go over everything with carb cleaner/simple green and spray it down.
  2. where im at now: checked all my torque specs on everything so far, finished up the rear tail section brake light/turn signal wiring. just waiting on my kickstand bolts and new radiator hose i ordered. i also have to clean the chain, rebleed the brakes, and find clear m/c brake line hose to replace my cracked one. i can't order a new one because i bought aftermarket clip ons and they are relocated under the triple and need a longer hose anyways. After that i have to reroute my throttle cables. The manual is retarded, says the cables needed to be routed between the frame and radiator. The cables bind up and its just frustrating... or maybe im the retard for following it... i dont know, but everything else was routed per manual and it looks a helluva lot better.
  3. lots of orange cones and a nice large parking lot. bring some brooms so you can sweep it clean... thats going to be the safest option of them all, if you are so inclined to actually pursue this. there are some nice "traning exercises" you can do that are pictured in a lot of books. 30 ft radius circle for example, figure 8's etc... bring your "instructional session" into a place where you can limit/control the variables involved. as far as todd goes -- AMA superbike level eh? so the mystery unfolds... hmm. im sure you'd be interesting to talk to in person about the sport, nevermind your e-persona.

how much nick? doubt this will still be available this summer... not with that price.
  5. thats impossible. a Porsche can never lose control.
  6. did you learn to keep up with us nimble 600's while you were gone?
  7. make it air cooled and ill take it
  8. lol calm down dude. necessary? no it wasn't, i could have chosen better words... my apologies to you sir phugitive. wheelies aren't the only reason for the gears going bad. actually, i dont see any physical reason for wheelies ruining gears. i can see them ruining the clutch, sure. gears no. my reasoning behind this, im not expert so this is open for debate: when you wheelie, say for sake of example a "clutch-up," you are already in second gear (or whatever your gear of choice is), no? the gears going bad on the yamaha's are due to dog's wearing down from the gear slotting into the recess, during the shifting process. with doing any kind of wheelie, power or clutch, the gear is already engaged. therefore the gear is already slotted over via shift drum/fork and dogs are engaged. there is no gears changing slots, and there is no shifting involved when clutching up wheelies, unless you shift through wheelies. even then its just a normal power shift, which that results in minimal wear and tear. is that reasonable?
  9. ummmm ok? anyways. i trust this dude with a lot of my gear purchases. anyways that suit is a little baggy for my taste, made for the guys who drank a little too much beer and weren't able to work it off... teknic is snug, but just like a suit be IMO.
  10. i dont know for sure, i just read about them. I dont know as much about suzuki's as i do Yamaha's. As for the fix, just as Lizard said, they come out with new parts to replace the old "bad" parts. if you go on mrcycles.com you can see there is the part # and sometimes in red next to it says "(replaces old part # xx-xx...)" you mean i have to wait 5 whole years before i know if i did a good job or not!? i was told its more along the lines of a few 100 miles...
  11. lol. for the mere fact i want a skin or the design or it? my phone is getting pretty beat up on the outside from dropping it too much and this would be like a second wind IMO
  12. what do you guys think of this? i incorporated a partial design off my helmet and mixed it with the obvious Yamaha and logo. now the question is will skinit.com let me print it, or will they gripe about copyright laws... they have other yamaha skins on their site so im not sure.
  13. plus one to GP plus. id wait on rearsets until your next budget surplus...
  14. thats a pretty cool exhaust, is that completely one-off your design or what?
  15. its not from pulling wheelies, i believe some older gixxer's had this problem as well. it is a "design flaw" by yamaha/suzuki which resulted in the dogs on 6th gear (yes 6th) wearing too fast. quick fyi on how transmission works (might be a little off, but you get the general idea), motorcycle trans are constant mech meaning every gear is rotating all the time, the way it engages a gear is through the side by use of dogs (splined gear)/dog recesses (free floating gear). see below the dogs sticking up slot over into the holes in the gear (pic below) beside it. the yamaha's (maybe suzuki's) had 3 dogs on the 6th gear (the dogs themselves were on 6th gear, but engages 2nd...) and supposedly there was too great a gap between 1st/2nd gear ratio's causing too much stress on the dogs, which caused them to jump out of their recess and have a momentary "neutral/clutch slip" feel. 03+ they changed the design to use 5 dogs instead of three, exact same setup as far as tooth count, pitch etc, just different number of dogs. the also changed their design to a more squarish angle instead of round as the first gens were. with the 5 dogs its a simple equation. previously it was stress/3 and now its stress/5 which results in lower stress for the dogs. 6th gear dogs (first gen) 2nd gear recess (first gen) second gens are exactly the same except 5 dogs and square cut. sorry no pics of the second gen gear for comparison... result of jumping out of gear when its supposed to be in gear: scrape marks and its bent... to iceman: if you can get a cheap deal on this bike id say go ahead and get it, the transmission work isn't hard at all. but id be hesitant at buying a bike that already has a problem. i bought mine without knowing about this second gear problem it already had...
  16. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streetfighter A streetfighter is a superbike that is customized by removing the fairing, and making other changes that result in an overall more aggressive look. Made popular by European riders, this type of custom motorcycle is gaining popularity all over the world. This particular term should not be confused with a street motorcycle or street-use motorcycle, which is a generic term (used by the motorcycle industry) applied to urban street bikes. gsxr600:
  17. gotcha, o well no matter. i got fronts and rear for under 100 so i might as well slap it on. i never had any problems with locking the rear up last year, and if its too stiff you could always introduce some air in the lines... (im kidding)
  18. i was under the impression that it was the type of fluid you got that determined how stiff/hard the brakes were. the SS lines were just to prevent fade... so with that you could get SS rear line and just put normal pads and DOT 4 fluid in there and you'd be fine. is that a correct assumption? idk i got SS rear's only because it was a good deal i got for mine, i haven't ever had a problem locking them up.
