i would do a valve check, but the only thing holding me back is making sure i get the cams back in the right location. i've taken the valve cover off and the cam cover and got as far as removing the cams but always stopped and turned around. i never can really understand what they mean in the manual about how to get it lined up correctly. the sad part is ill redo my transmission any offseason but valves scare the shit out of me for some reason.

i would go 48, mostly because when i had my boots i originally picked the larger size and first time at the track my feet slid around inside and the boot was larger than what my mind was originally used to. meaning, i had trouble getting the toe under the lever to shift because i thought it was smaller than it actually was (make sense?) are these boots to tour around in, or track boots? tour boots - 49, track - 48.

mine is a 99... however, it can still hold its own against the modern 600 class last time out at mid oh.
