  1. I also added charging ports to the left speaker to charge my phone and my bluetooth adaptor...
  2. climbing the ranks again, now in the upper half of the middle of the pack..
  3. Wait, you're talking about football helmets? I did some Dev work for PPG over the past 2 years, and like i said, even the most aggressive solvents took some soaking to do any appreciable softening to crosslinked polymers. (urethanes and polyesters), and most of those hardened right back up once the solvent vaporized.
  4. perfect for me, as an atheist I have no soul either.
  5. I'd be happy to help any way I can. Yeah, I can still hear everything around me. Everything important anyway. And believe me it makes those long rides way more enjoyable. Have you ever ridden to the west coast in 3 days? It also psyches me up for attacking the twisties listening to some rammstein or disturbed, daft punk, even some bad meets evil... If you'd rather listen to the drone of your engine on the freeway for hours have at it, nobody's stopping you. If you'd rather hear the wind noise in your helmet, cool... not sure why you're preaching at those of us who enjoy some music with our 2 wheeled fun.
  6. I can hear my stereo fine with ear plugs in.
  7. I used to be a lab tech working for the 2nd largest paint and coatings company in the world, and I've never seen any of the consumer grade solvents have any appreciable effect on crosslinked polymers used in motorcycle helmets once they are cured... This includes urethanes, and polyesters... Now if you soak the shell in acetone or pm acetate for hours, you might soften it up... this is not the case when painting...
  8. *starts chant* "boo-sa....boo-sa...boo-sa..boo-sa.boo-sa boo-sa"
  9. You do realize the official stance of the helmet manufacturer is NEVER paint their helmet... it may void any warranty they have... @Sparky: The helmet manufacturers are just covering their legal behinds... most paints won't do a thing to hurt your helmet. still, paint at your own risk.
  10. ding ding ding...give the man a cookie http://www.kymcousa.com/about/index.html
  11. giraffe... you can sit on the head and see over the traffic, also better for off road use.
  12. all day comfort (with the right seat), good maneuverability, good ergos...
  13. don't get the XX unless you want a WFTOMG speed rush
  14. 600lb bike, I was 160, and he was about 180... and yes, he was giving me "worst case scenario" training (leaning as far as he could while keeping himself in the seat). I was hitting the curves at their "advised" speeds as posted on the little yellow signs. (35 mph in this case). that is my whole point... the first time you take out a new passenger, you should be riding well within your safety zone. even if they tell you they've ridden with other people, until you get a feel for how they ride with you, you should be riding conservatively.
  15. My dad tought me how to ride 2up, he hopped on the back of my 77 750, and every turn he would flop back and forth as hard as he could... I could feel the bike trying to move, but I found I was able to compensate for the motion with the handlebars and easily stayed in my lane... It's nice if the passenger cooperates, but even if they don't, that is no reason to crash.
  16. so should I buy these and mount them up on the XX?
  17. 650r is going to be tamer than a vtwin or I4 decent torque though, so should be fun to play with in the corners, with ergos that would be easy to handle for longer periods of time. to sum up, it seems you have narrowed down to a set of bikes that would suit your needs, now it's just a matter of finding a smoking deal or settling on one that suits your fancy best...
  18. 650r... almost positive... another good choice..
  19. If you're considering the XX, You might look at a VFR of similar years instead, it's like a watered down, tamed version... more more wallet friendly for commuting...
