umm, what? Where do you think most of the federal money goes every year. in order the 5 biggest expenditures of our federal government. 1. Social security 2. Defense 3. Medicare 4. Medicaid 5. Interest Of course, this whole situation will work itself out after the baby boomers die off...

When undocumented workers use false or invalid SS numbers, it actually boosts the fund. They can "cheat" the system and pay in under that number, but wouldn't be eligible to collect when the time comes.
  3. I'm probably a decade out from buying another bike. The XX does the switch from sport to touring well enough for my needs now. When it comes time to do some massive touring I'll probably Darkside an 1800 Goldwing. If the XX doesn't last, and I need another similar bike, I'm thinking BMW k1600gt or K1300S
  4. Hard part is over, Now to build the rest of the tiny car.
  5. Time to call in the hulkster.... On a more serious note: Of course they're pissed off. Their treasury bonds are going down in value every time one of these issues comes up. Just not enough for them to sell them.
  6. Actually john boehner could end the shutdown right now. Call a vote on a clean cr that has already been presented to him. There are enough votes in the house to pass it, and there are enough votes in the senate. The president would sign it right now. A minority of republicans have taken the entire government hostage in a effort to circumvent the legislative process.

You need to tell Rosa she is fired.
  9. drive train is a 68 VW Beetle, but it's a glass buggy. I'm planning on converting it to hydraulic, it's a $180 kit, and I'm tired of breaking clutch cables. The stage 2 is much stiffer than stock, and the cable just can't handle it for more than a few months. 3 times I've had to drive it home without the clutch. On the bright side I've gotten pretty good at it.
  10. My car clutch uses a cable... and I got a stage 2 clutch kit on it... My bike uses a hydraulic
  11. I really liked the rune, if they weren't so pricey, and I had need/extra cash for a cruiser it would be the one I'd grab.
  12. Honda tried to kill 2 birds with 1 bike... it didn't work Old XX guys wanted an updated blackbird, something to compete with the busa and zx14 Old VFR guys wanted an updated viffer v4. It seems that they kinda hit the sweet spot of the worst of both worlds. Still a pretty good bike, just not the best at anything it tries to do.
  13. Didn't bother reading the article, just the bit you quoted in.
  14. The XX didn't sell well either, but It is a fantastic machine. I'd rock a VFR12 if the price was right, slap a corbin on it and ride the heck out of it. I'd rather be riding something different than everyone else anyway.
  15. Gluten... I've never heard of it...
  16. What is a "street RPM level"? I wind my bike to red line in the first few gears usually. Then snap up to 6th to maintain speed.
  17. It's not a grilled cheese like 2 pieces of bimbo and a slice of velveeta... it's a pretty large sandwich that happens to be grilled, and they fill it with piles of deliciousness. Thick slices of bread, too. The first sandwich I had there was "The Dude Abides" which is stacked with mozzarella sticks and big meatballs. I'm actually going there tonight for my 4 yr anniversary.
  18. Melt is coming to Columbus... Prepare for your citizens to get fatter. http://meltbarandgrilled.com/2013/10/columbus-grand-opening-and-hiring-info/
  19. I sat on my bike in the garage yesterday, fired it up and enjoyed the fumes for a couple minutes.
  20. By using the word "condone" you have judged them as being "bad". Saying "I don't condone being gay" is as stupid as saying "I don't condone people who like chocolate ice cream more than vanilla" or "I don't condone people who like shrimp or lobster" (an apt example if you know your bible) I think It's time you repent for your shellfish eating lifestyle.
  21. He used the phrase "I do not condone it" But since we are on condoning and Christianity, I can tell you that I do not condone a number of atrocities perpetrated by the religion's largest church. If you want a definition for "evil", "causing unnecessary human suffering" would be at the top of my list for attempting to define such an abstraction. The church is responsible for plenty of it.
  22. Thinking... Nope, not bigoted towards Christians (or by extension Christianity). Do I think their ideas about the universe (and history) are factually incorrect, and unimaginative, yes absolutely. Some of my favorite people are Christians. It (their particular religion) brings them solace in emotionally trying times, and in some cases gives them a motivation to be better people. I also believe Christianity can and does have some nasty negative implications and repercussions for many people. "Do I condone Christianity?" That's a loaded question. "When did you stop beating your wife?" We've not established that you had started beating your wife or even that you were married. We haven't established that someone's religion is something that requires condoning. I do enjoy this thoughtful discussion.
  23. I don't throttle match when downshifting, If I'm simultaneously braking and engine braking I'll just slip the clutch to release rather than dumping it for smoothness or if not engine braking just hold the clutch and snap down the gears as I decelerate. (as I hit 50, I hold the clutch and drop to 3rd, hit 30, drop to 2nd just so I'm in the optimum gear when I'm ready to let out the clutch to speed up again) this may or may not work for your riding style.
  24. I'll throw the word bigot around if it applies... Sure. I guess I'm slightly bigoted towards bigots... which is kind of an oxymoron if you think about it... not tolerating intolerance. The American flag (to me) symbolizes a particular set of borders in north America, and it's citizens. I have personal differences with many of those citizens, but they are still my neighbors and countrymen. I've never been the most patriotic person and find patriotism alone a poor philosophy to live by. Yes, all things being equal, I will support my country over another, but then it's rarely the case that all things are equal. This country is my home. I was born here. Unless something major changes, I'll live the majority of my life here, and die here. In the mean time, I'll do what is reasonable to make my home country the best it can be.
