  3. Without knowing the background, it's hard to render a verdict. Perhaps he was an asshole and deserved it. Perhaps that group had no provocation and attacked him at random. Given the situation and with the virtue of hindsight, calling the cops after being swarmed the first time probably would have been the best course of action, then until they arrive, as mr. butters said, stay rolling on the freeway.
  4. I think the opposition was to "arming teachers" not "more police officers" We had a sheriff on school grounds at all times when I was in school... (they didn't have anything else to do in that town anyway)
  5. My advice: Keep riding the hawk until you have a solid reason to upgrade or change... It sounds like you really like the bike you have, so enjoy it until such time that something changes. When your bike no longer suits your riding needs for whatever reason, then look at something else... Of course, you can just completely ignore this, too. Buy what you want, and enjoy that instead. All personal preference, and where you want to spend your money. Personally, I can't see myself changing bikes for any reason for at least another decade. Mine does everything I've ever asked of it with grace and comfort. Eventually I'll probably get a wing for long 2-up touring, and that bike will suit my needs for that era in my life.
  6. They seem like similar types to me... but then everyone is a little different.
  7. As I understand it, some cruiser riders will duct tape their tires to increase longevity on worn tires (sort of a redneck retread). Either in a pinch on a trip, or just to delay buying new tires.
  8. LOL, thanks, but I'm fine. I got my priorities straight. On the bright side, in spite of the recent challenges in my life, I didn't have to sell my bike, and I wasn't late on any payments on my house. I consider that a big win. I'm pretty fortunate, and I'll have Ember at full strength come spring time. New treads, new chain/sprockets, fresh oil, fresh brakes... Plus I'll have some vacation days and floating holidays to burn so i can actually get some rides in. Might even finally make it to the gap.
  9. Haven't ridden since july... No tire money... But on a good note all of my bills are on time now, and I paid my dad back almost half of what I borrowed.
  10. If you want a really really sticky tire, you can use duct tape...
  11. looks like a nice high end helmet for those that have the coin and want something custom fit...

    Funny Bone

Good live comedy is hard to beat, I usually hit up the comedy club a half dozen times a year or so.
  13. Justin, Pauly, Tyler, Likwid...
  14. Figured you'd be chiming in, sweet cheeks. Fagley, wow, real creative, haven't heard that since 5th grade... Many of the old dtc's have had major life events, the sams, and fonzie, new jobs, legal battles, so on and so forth. Still, many other dtc regulars still do pop on and chime in from time to time.
  15. When we did it it was with bottle jacks, but a lift would have been nice. Wasn't aware of your rental and hoa situation when i suggested it, but hell that makes it even easier, rent a house with a bigger garage. And i still dont see where i was cracking jokes or making fun of anyone, just trying to offer more effective solutions.
  16. Have a hidden start button on my dune buggy, but anyone with even a basic understanding of mechanics would be able to hotwire it in minutes
  17. Who's cracking jokes? It's not that hard to raise a roof on a garage, and you can make the door appear normal sized or like its not even there... It's also not difficult to cut a hole in the back wall wide enough for a truck bed... add an overhang... and re-enclose... No imagination, no diy skills? But hey if you want to come try to steal from me, give it your best shot....
  18. Fix the garage... a few minor mods to a building is way safer IMO than an electronic device.
  19. Looks like a garage right in front of it... maybe park it in there? Alarms always seem like a waste of time to me...
  20. Good insurance = new truck kitted out better than the old one

  22. So a judge can't just toss a case out for any reason they see fit?
