Ohio Rider needs your help in Kawasaki Zero to Hero Challenge
Ziggy replied to Hallin's topic in Daily Ride
Voted, good luck! -
I'm going to try to make this, probably riding regardless of weather. I've been to Porky Capone's a couple of times, and have never been disappointed. ** Edit ** Cleared it with the wife, I'll be there for sure, and may have 1 or 2 more with me.
-
I'll take two of the "watch" decals, and I'm gonna need about 4 OR script ones when they're available please.
-
I caught a robin in the chest once with my wife on the back. The little bugger took the wind right out of me!
-
Rode to work this morning, and took the bike to get lunch. Great day outside, but holy crap it's windy!
-
Glad to hear she's home safe. Tell her thanks from me and my family!
-
As long as she didn't get hurt in the tip over, count your blessings. If it were me, I'd leave the scratches and tiny dent as a reminder to never ride over your head, and always make it back home to what is really important. Besides, I'm sure she feels just awful about the whole incident.

Hey NinjaDoc, just out of curiosity, what should I be looking out for as far as changes for the worse go? She's obviously pretty miserable, and the spots are looking pretty bad. Nyquil seems to be the only thing that is allowing her ability to actually rest, but she's taking plenty of water, and has been able to eat applesauce and mashed potatoes. I also picked up a pack of nutrition supplement drinks this evening. I'm just worried that she could take a turn for the worse and I might not catch it in time, thinking it was just part of the virus running its course.

I've done the cold in insulated coveralls from Wal-Mart over my jeans and my regular riding jacket with my balaclava and some good gloves. I found that with a windshield on my VStar, I could ride comfortably down to about 30*F , and if it was going to be pretty nice in the afternoon, I could tough it out to work down to about 19*F. I only did that a couple of times though, not a fan of ice on the road. Now I have a nicer leather coat with an insulated liner, and I have insulated leather chaps. I'm good down to about 38*F. Much colder than that, and I'd rather take the cage than spend an extra 20 minutes getting ready for work. Oh yeah, and the 599… Don't they call that bike the Hornet? Needs more pics!

LOL! Nice. No, I don't think so.

Doc confirmed CP, said this is the first case he's seen in a number of years. Prescribed Acyclovir and a "magic mouthwash" concoction to numb the inside of her mouth and provide some relief for her tongue and mouth. Contagious for 7-10 days, or there about. Doc listened to her lungs and said there didn't seem to be any sign of pneumonia at all, so nothing really to worry about too much for now. It's just gonna suck for a while.
-
At the doc now... Praying he'll be able to offer some sort of relief, even if it's just peace of mind that she's going to get over it. She said she feels like crying, but it hurts to do it.

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone!

Thanks for checking back... Food is kind of a problem for her right now. She's got the spots in her mouth and said she feels like she's got them in her throat too. She's drinking water, and been eating some applesauce and chicken soup, but not much more. I guess I'll pickup some breakfast type shakes? She hasn't smoked for years, but she was sick with what we assumed was the flu for 4 or 5 days prior to the rash breaking out. She'd been experiencing some dizziness and fever, and when she checked her BP it was like 96/67. Is the fever and such likely related to her body fighting off CP? Not looking for a diagnosis, just trying fit the pieces together. I hate it when she's sick. Especially when there isn't anything I can do.
-
Oh yeah, I called to confirm with my mom that I've had CP once already, but she informed me that when I had them, it was VERY minor on my chest and torso only when I was 5 or 6 years old. So I've been operating on the assumption that I'm immune already, but I'm finding that may not be the case... I hope it is, I'm a MUCH bigger baby when I'm sick than my wife is. If I come down with this, she may just plug me in the head and put me out of my misery!
-
She's got an appointment to see the doc in a couple of hours... I guess I didn't realize the full gravity of the situation. The rash didn't show up until yesterday morning around 10 or so. We tried to get in to the local Urgent Care, but despite their posted hours on the website, voice mail, and DOOR saying they were open on Sunday 9-2, they were closed. She didn't think it was bad enough to go to the ER, so we went home, and she went back to bed. She woke up this morning complaining about hurting all over, and cringed every time I touched her, even on the top of her head. :(:(

I had a chance to sit on the Victory Hard-Ball at IMS this year, and I'll be honest, I liked it! I'm nowhere near ready to drop $18k on a bike though, and I'll probably never buy new. In 5 or 6 years when I'm ready and (more) able to spend a week at a time on the road I'll look at used 'Glides and whatever Victorys I can find on CL. Victory riders don't seem to be selling though...

It looks like my wife has taken on a case of the chicken pox at 32 years old. Her symptoms seem to be pretty severe with the chicken pox rash extending all over her torso, arms, legs, and even into her mouth and throat. She's absolutely miserable right now, says even the lightest touch on her skin hurts, so I'm struggling with being unable to offer any comfort at all. Fortunately, our kids are old enough to be mostly self sufficient so she can stay pretty much quarantined to our room. I've been doing some reading online and unfortunately, her symptoms seem to be leaning to the more severe end of the spectrum for adults. We have an appointment to see the doc this afternoon. Has anyone here dealt with Chicken Pox as an adult? How awful was it? How long before you were back to normal?

Looks like it'd be a blast! Pricey though.

Hey, I'm in that area too. Have to meet up to ride this summer.

I haven't spent much time on HDForums, but the I do frequent XL Forum, and have been pretty impressed with the number of guys that actually ride their sportsters. The number of threads around suspension setup, usable power, etc... kinda suprised me. I guess that goes along with Sportsters not being "real" Harleys according to all those "Harley guys". It's all good though, they can keep running the prices up on the Dynas, 'Glides, and Fatboys, and I'll keep smokin' 'em in the twisties!

Since my Jeep took a crap on me week before last, I got this: The kids gave me a couple of tools, and I got some other small odds and ends too.

might have better luck doing a roll pan and hidden hitch behind the license plate on that truck, but if you want a bumper, check out www.car-part.com. They're showing 13 Flareside step bumpers within 120 miles of 43230 in varying states of (dis)repair.
-
Safety feature... They knew what would happen if you hooked a 5000 lb trailer up to it.

Don't be too quick to blame the PO for the hacked up lowering kit. That truck looks like it was probably done by one of the conversion companies that did/does conversion vans. The two tone fade paint job, ground effects, and "knuckle-buster" offset wheels are pretty typical of mid-90's pickup conversions.
