AWESOME!! now go out and buy a lottery ticket. I'm surprised MI is still using HDs for mounted cops. Most places have swapped out the those slow pieces of shite for ST1300s or better. The best part about HD cop bikes is that the only difference between the cop version and civilian version are the lights and siren! No extra HP or nothing.

I don't even think they will let you in the advanced course if you don't take the basic course first. Your friend is an asshat. If he didn't learn from this gentle nudge that his skills aren't as great as he thinks they are, he may learn when it is too late. I had been riding for over 15yrs before I took the basic course. I was extremely surprised at how many bad habits I had picked up. As far as his riding etiquette when riding with someone else, you need to tell him straight out what you expect from someone riding w/you or your group. If he can't conform to that, then you need to stop riding with him, or risk being collateral damage when Darwin catches up to him

Insurance gives you discounts for driver's ed, MSF course completion, and for being a member of a national motorcycle club, such as Harley's HOG. I know I know, but you can join HOG for $45/year and save up to 15% off your premium. Full coverage for my bike in OH was running me $300/yr.

depends on the car and what the origin of the vehicle is. Ie; if it is a salvage vehicle from LA (Louisiana) then no, I would not purchase it. Too much of a risk of flood damage. If it is a salvage vehicle from L.A. (Los Angeles) most likely. Dry climate so water damage is unlikely. 2006 650i w/50k miles, I would buy it from you now for <$15k!! Seriously, I would, especially if it's white. PM me if you end up picking that up.

Glad you're ok.. I ride in the rain every chance I get, it keeps the skills and senses sharp. The same rules you would use in a cage apply to a bike in the rain.... take it easy on the brakes (less is more), slow down, stay alert, and assume your safe stopping distance is doubled if not tripled.

I've been staring at the pix for 30 minutes now and have yet to see a bike...

Not everyone that rides a sportbike is a HD hating ass hat, and not everyone that rides a HD is doing it to be part of some exclusive club. There's no denying what HD did for motorcycle riding, both positive and some negative. The fact remains that HD remains a slave to the endangered species of riders. HD has a long track record of choosing image over form or function. They started to turn the corner w/that when they introduced the VROD, which was mocked and still is by many many traditional air cooled HD loyalists. Not sure what those dinosaurs are gonna due when the 2010 models of the glides are released w/the VROD engine. Yup, that's right, the beloved air cooled cult is stepping into the 21st century beginning in 2010.. More importantly, you can't hate all sportbike riders because a few are total dick heads. I've ridden w/quite a few sportbike riders on this forum, and was never treated with anything less than respect. Of course I give them nothing but respect as well. Guess you get out of people what you put out. If you keep spewing piss and vinegar towards the sportbike crowd, you're gonna keep getting it in return. At least take time to meet and greet a few of the fuktards here before you make up your mind to damn them all.

I got mine in PA, rules a bit different. Their only no no is passengers and after dark. I followed the rules.

we're heading down to San Jose this weekend for Relay for Life, so I'm going to try to sneak a ride to Monterey and or Santa Cruz into the plans. We're actually picking up couple of babies this weekend. Nothing taste better than raising your meals yourself!

if you're not a new rider test is very much do-able on a 950... I would try to borrow a 250 though...
