You nailed it. Put synth in a high mileage motor and it cleans everything out. Lots of dried seals that were plugged with sludge now begin to leak. A rear main seal replacement later, and you are looking at $1000 on most cars. Rather than develop new leaks and repairs just by switching oil composition and hoping you will see some sort of improvement (doubtful) in performance, in my opinion it is better to keep running what works. I suppose my original statement should have read "dont switch to synthetic in a high mileage motor if you are not prepared to possibly invest in repairs," because of course its not a given you will leak just from switching. And I suppose in a worst case scenario you could plug the filter entirely and starve the engine, but thats a longshot, I think.

The stripe has kinda developed a bad image due to it being the "ricers" trademark. That said, I always get it, I find it very useful. Sun visors are never big enough. Usually you put something darker such as 20% on the strip, to get the most out of it. If you are tinting for looks, avoid it... If you are tinting for privacy and/or function, get it.

I always use Mr. Tint. They use the best film available, llumastar. It is a bit more expensive (maybe $30-40) but completely worth it. (make sure you ask for the upgrade from the standard stuff) The optics are near perfect, and it doesnt fade. The owner cares about his work, he will pull film and re-tint until it looks right, most shops wont do that. They also warranty their work against peeling, but I dont remember for how long, since I have never needed it. I dont know the specifics about quality tint, but I have never heard bad things. Lowes has sheets of aluminum diamond plate (couple different sizes). I would think it would be better for "show" than a skidplate though.

I think they are the perfect commuter bike (comfy, luggage, etc). V-Twin is not really for racing or hauling ass, but still fun to ride. Anti-lock linked brakes are trick too, again, for the hard-core commuter in the rain.
