  1. I don't know what all this "timer" "stopwatch" business is. If you guys are racing....then RACE. 8 riders at the start line with a flag man. Checkered flag at the finish. First man alive across the finish line wins. Only sport bikes allowed. No less than 1000 CCs because this isn't that chump change 600 CC middleweight nonsense. I don't know why you all are even mentioning SENAs. No weak ass helmets allowed. And the same goes for gear. T-shirt and flip flops/ tennis shoes or go home. Last one across the finish line is sacrificed to the motorsport Gods. You guys really need someone to organize this thing.
  2. Mine Sena unit still works like a champ, but my is self contained inside the helmet.
  3. In a completely unrelated note, did anyone else's SENA fail? Mine, @Whelan, Kyle's, Shorty's SENAs all failed from water.
  4. And we will all need to pair our Sena's on the phone app, so we can warn riders on the course of incoming cops.
  5. So it didn't work on my bike today but I did have to work on my helmet specifically my Sena 10U. Wednesday when me and the wife left for the bike night and grab my helmet off on my workbench and it was still plugged into the USB charger and I yank the son of a bitch hard. It pulled apart the entire battery pack and charger assembly. I got it the click back together before we left and powered it up and everything seemed to work fine but today when I went to plug it in and charge it it would not charge. So I took it apart to see what was going on and it obviously I had bent the charging port and pulled some terminals out of the circuit board. Did finally get it to charge with a little bit of soldering but not without having a clamp holding it together so thre is still a short some place. Filed a claim with Sena will see if they take care of me or not. Really they don't have to because it was my fault but I hope they do.
  6. Early on into my motorcycling career I noticed ear ringing. Looked into it, and found that wind noise inside a helmet can reach volumes in excess of 120 db. That's loud folks. Now, I'm uncomfortable riding even short distances without hearing protection. When Shannon and I got the Senas to communicate, I noticed I had a hard time hearing the speakers inside the helmet. So I've wired earbuds into the helmet to the Sena, and I use noise isolating foam tips that attach to most earbuds. They work great. They cancel just as much noise as ear plugs, and I have my wife hard wired into my brain for all two-up riding. I did a lot of research to find these foam tips. There are alternatives that cost more, but none of them are better. https://www.amazon.com/Rebound-Fidelity-Earphone-Earbud-Tips/dp/B01H6IEPDG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1500571560&sr=8-1&keywords=earbud+foam+rebound
  7. Yamaha EPH-50 earbuds with Comply Foam tips. Works great to reduce noise/fatigue and I get much better audio through the Sena.
  8. So I appreciate the kind words about me, always nice to hear! Going forward I want to make sure our customers know that if they buy a Sena product from Riders Discount and are having issues to please call me directly or PM me within the 2 year warranty time frame. Appreciate the patience @thompsonian and @Connie14 with your issues, both of which have now been resolved. We love the Sena product and issues are few and far between but know that you are being taken care of if something does come up. Best Regards, Mike
  9. I like these - DownBeat molded re-useable plugs. They provide 18 dB reduction, mostly for high pitch sounds and really reduce wind noise that I get from my helmet. I use them with my Sena and the quality of the music is pretty good. The painful part is when I forget to turn down the volume when I don't have the plugs in. The typical disposable foam plugs provide more reduction at 29-32 dB but cover a broader frequency range and leave me feeling like I'm missing traffic sounds. https://www.amazon.com/DownBeats-Reusable-Fidelity-Hearing-Protection/dp/B00A3Z44RM?th=1
  10. Update: Had a phone conversation with the rep for Sena today. Getting a new unit drop shipped to me. Should have it tomorrow or Monday. Again, HUGE thanks to Mike @RidersDiscount for following up and basically being the attack dog on this. He's been up their ass about the shitshow and has been super professional and just all around kick ass!
  11. That is who I went to the first time. He told me to go thru Sena, as that is what they requested. And when I contacted Sena, they asked if I went thru the retailer I bought it from. Gave me a HUGE run around on the remote. And then when the headset started acting up, I contacted Mike and he got involved. I still had to go the Sena, but I know he barked pretty high up the tree with my level of dissatisfaction. Luckily I still have my SMH10 ...somewhere. Guess I'll just go back to it, although it was suggested that I tell them I want the 20s in return for the crappy 10U. And with my Neotec, that is the whole reason I went with the 10U in the first place.
  12. I just sent my 10U back for the 2nd time. It is the biggest piece of shit that I have ever purchased. I offered to pay to switch it to the 20s, but they have refused. I may be purchasing another unit, so I can have something reliable (especially if mine is also stuck on back order). Sena's customer service is horrible. Like you, I purchased mine from Mike. Maybe, I should have asked him to help switch my units.
  13. Earlier this year, I bought a new Neotec and Sena 10U from @RidersDiscount. And let me just state for the record, that Mike has gone ABOVE AND BEYOND what any would expect from a company. Thanks for everything you've done good sir. It's not your fault these guys are asshats... ANYWHO...get the unit installed and charged and immediately out of the box, the remote doesn't work. Doesn't hold a charge, doesn't do jack squat. Contact Mike, he says to contact Sena as that's what they want. Takes a few days for them to respond, and do the usual drivel of reset it, do what the manual says, yadda yadda yadda. So I finally get the RMA to send the remote back in for replacement under warranty. I end up having to harrass them for when it will be sent back as this was right at the time @JustinNck1 and I were heading down to Maggie Valley. Eventually they managed to get the remote to me the day before we left. And thankfully, this one worked as it should. Now let me also add that during this time I've been using the 10U without the remote. I'd only been getting at the most 6 hours of time before the battery shuts down. Now I know that is crap since lots of others have been getting double that easily. It gets to the point that while on our trip we have to pull off, plug it into a battery pack to charge for a bit, then unplug it to resume use. It gets old really fast. So, when we get back, I make contact again with my displeasure of the terrible battery life stating how others are getting MUCH better results than I am. I get the run around of try a reset, maybe a wire is pinched, a real line of BS basically. Kept in contact with Mike, to where he made some phone calls himself and finally got it to where they will do another RMA for the entire unit. Again, this is not something that he had to do, but willingly did it of his own accord. He has my business for life now. Get an email on 28th of June FINALLY saying a replacement will be shipped but gave no tracking info or anything. I wait. Emailed them yesterday stating I was curious as to when this will ship out since there was no tracking info attached. Get told that the 10U is now on backorder and they have no idea when it will ship. I'm getting pretty pissed. You pay good money for a product, hoping that it will work great like all the others do. Get maybe a couple months of use out of it and it is a total turd. Company is a pain in the ass to deal with. So if anyone else has to do a return with Sena for any reason..be prepared.
  14. I work in Dayton. I can meet you somewhere in between no problem so you can check them out and not mess with the mail. Oh no, you want the Sena.
  15. Rode to work this morning with my new ear plugs. I can hear my sena decent, the wind noise is cut down considerably. It is taking some getting used to though. The FJR was already quiet, now I can barely hear it.
  16. My rf1200 is awesome compared to my Bell... Riding fully naked bike I don't get excessive noise or turbulence etc... Only complaints are : 1. Speaker cutouts too small for my sena, had to use spacers and now my ears fold over putting it on and I have to adjust it some. No issues after that 2. The vents are designed, I think, for riding position on a Supersport bike. The vents work, but not as well as they're designed to, because of seating position... Tipping my head forward slightly while riding creates additional ventilation as opposed to normal riding position. I ride in up to 120 degrees, the helmet is very hot, but I'm not sure if any helmet can be comfortable in those temps. The GT Air, last I shopped, is not Snell approved due to internal sun visor. I ride at the drag strip occasionally and Snell is required, that's why I went with the 1200. Owned an 1100 before and I'm sure I'll own the 1300 if they ever make one. I'm a shoei fan boy for sure, especially after owning Bell and HJC
  17. This works well for me. The Sena is probably the best upgrade I have done for long distance riding.
  18. I use these, but they're molded around earbuds. They work great at blocking unwanted noise, and even with the music going, I can hear what I need to around me (traffic, sirens, etc). http://earfuze.com/ It does get a little old having to plug the cord into the Sena every time I put the helmet on though. I have been thinking about trying just the Sena speakers in my helmet and wearing earplugs, but I feel like the sound quality (of the music) would be awful. Anybody have any input on that?
  19. @hiro Not sure where you're located at, but make a trip somewhere that you can try each one on for the best fitment. I prefer the Shoei Neotec over just about everything except my Suomy Apex or Spec 1R. If I could squeeze a Sena into the Suomy I'd have gone with that, but decided that a modular would fit my needs the best at the moment.
  20. Would hang onto this gear, but my puppy is working on destroying everything I own. All gear fits someone who is 6'2" 230 pounds. 34 waist 34 inseam. Triumph mesh jacket $50 Triumph mesh riding pants. Padded knee and hip. Fit 34 waist $50 Triumph adventure jacket (textile) with liner $75. This was my favorite of them all. Alpine stars leather GP jacket $200 Sidi boots fit Nike size 11.5 shoe $100 Sidi gloves xl $50, black don't have a picture handy. Sena SMH 10 $100 minus USB cable. I have teenagers and a micro USB gets snatched up when not being used. Otherwise complete. Shark Vision R helmet size large only worn a few times. $150 Everything is negotiable.
  21. I want a Sena. Send me sone prices?
  22. Shout out to RD team! Once again came through with the best service and prices. Sent me a Sena 20s to complete my helmet setup. Couldn't be happier with the service I receive every time I order from them.
  23. We were just talking about this device on my trip. I'd like to find something that I can take still photos with while riding. I don't want to create videos - I don't want to make that kind of commitment, but would love to be able to snap photos while riding. Also, does Sena have anything that combines with my 3S? I know it's the basic model and doesn't have a lot of features compared to the others so chances are pretty slim. If you have any recommendations that I could research, that would be great. Thanks!!
