rubbersidedown
Should I be concerned with low milage (<3000 miles) older (>10 years) bikes?Used to be there was a concern with seals drying out and failing due to lack of use. Is that still a concern? What other pitfalls are there with an older used bike?
Gixxus Christ!
If its Japanese I wouldn't worry about it.
Revelstoker
Age should not be a determining factor. Care and use/abuse should be the most important questions. Bikes that are well maintained, stored inside, and have records of servicing will be a better determing factor. I have a '68 with 97,000 miles on it and it runs like new. My old '85 Honda with 46,000 miles is in excellent shape and continues to run like new. Some materials will break down (seat covers, dry rot tires) but many times, those issues are easily addressed for not a whole lot of cost. No idea on the low mileage bikes that have sat for extended periods. My quess, it depends on how they were stored (fluids in, out) and where they were stored.
