Bad324
So years I ago I had an idea to start a business that centered around online beers sales. Problem is I'm not sure legally what it would take to make it happen or if its even a feasible idea in the first place. With everything going on in my life I thought maybe its time to look in to this for real. So once again I come to you guys to help point me in the right direction and I'll start off with some of the easier questions I need to answer 1) Can you sell beer/alcohol via a website by order and not a monthly club deal?2) Would I need the permission of the brewery in order to re-sell their product first? Eventually my goal would be to figure out how to become a distributor if the idea took off3) Would a UPS or FedEx allow the shipping of alcohol? Or is there another type of shipper I could use that I'm not thinking of currently I'm obviously just in the idea stages right now and don't have anything formal but eventually if I can figure out if its feasible I'd take the next steps
oldschoolsdime92
You can sell wine, I know for a fact, but I don't know what you need to do in order to legally be able to do it.
whaler
Not sure about sales and delivery without the ability to verify age, but when I was a student at BG, there was a convenience store named Spots that would deliver beer and smokes. Place was a life saver!
Tonik
You have to have a special license to sell and ship to the state you are shipping to. After you get that you have to set up a special contract with USP/FedEx. Before you do either of those you need to get some lube, cuz you are going to take it in the butt. Bad324
I wouldn't be shocked if the one good business idea I had would be completely out of reach because of legal mumbo jumbo. I guess if it was easy someone would have definitely already done it Edited April 10, 2014 by Bad324

I think I know where I am going for dinner. It sucks that I'm not working in BG anymore, Spots was a lunch favorite. A firesteak and a beer always made for a pretty good lunch. fizzer
This may be helpful: http://billybrew.com/the-ins-and-outs-of-shipping-beer Also there are several websites like this already, perhaps looking at their models might help you in your search: http://www.letspour.com/http://shop.brewforia.com/and a list of some retailers which ship beers: http://onlinebeerstores.homestead.com/
