Watch out for crazy road ragers

So I was coming home last night on 11 North in the fast lane doin about 75 mph in a 65 and gaining on the car in front of me. A red Cavalier comes buzzing up the slow lane and drops in behind the car in front of me because of a car coming up the entrance ramp. All of the sudden I see what I originally thought was windshield spray in the air, but quickly realized it was brake dust. Red Cavalier was tailgating hard and car brake checked him. No big deal at this point, but then driver in front takes it to the extreme. Girl locks em up, brings her and the red Cavalier to a complete stop in fast lane right in front of me. I decided I was not gonna get squashed like a bug by whatever was coming behind me, but could not go to right lane because of traffic, so I went around cautiously on the left. Good thing I was cautious, because the girl threw her car in park and was getting out to I guess put a hurting on the skinny boy in the Cavalier. Not sure what all came of the incident, I was just glad I had an escape route and figured there was no use being a sitting duck if someone smashed into the two of them. If you get the newspaper near Niles,OH who knows you may be reading about them as I type this. Crazy stuff. Keep the rubber side down and be careful out there.

i was driving with my family somewhere, and a group of cars came onto the freeway.

one particular car crossed 3-4 lanes of traffic in a hurry into the express lane, but apparently never sped up past 45.  everyone is easily going 65-70.

i'm the lucky winner who comes up on him in  the express lane, and naturally, brake hard to avoid crushing his golf or whatever the fuck it was with my daddy mobile (touareg, VW suv).  Traffic surges around us, and i can't move over to get around him.  dipshit starts braking, down to 25 fucking mph.  i eventually get around him, and as i pass him, he has just the most bitter, acidic angry at the world look on his face.  i smiled and gave him a thumbs up.  you can't get mad at people whose lives suck so hard, they feel the need to be complete shits to everyone else.

Bet they knew each other. Yes, stopping in the fast lane on a freeway is always a smart thing to do. (sarcasm)

Probably a band no one else has ever heard of, but...

Dallas from "Suburban Legends" died when a Hyundai executive stopped on the highway and he ran into the parked car on his old magna.

The other band members claim Hyundai quickly shuffled the driver out of the country to dodge prosecution.

It must be the time of the month for idiots on the road.  3 times on the way home from work, I got cut off, having to brake HARD to avoid collisions.  It's a good thing I don't have any brake lines ready to blow (that was a couple years ago) or it would have been BAD.

Jbot - I would claim that the Tour-rag is a Cayenne, since it pretty much is!  Or an All-road, at least! (:nono: It's a yuppie-mobile anyway you look at it...)

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be getting a dash cam soon.

I swear that people behind the wheel are getting stupider.  I'm so sick of the texters while driving.   Doing 15mph under the speed limit in the far left lane of the highway, weaving around cluelessly.  If I were an LEO I'd be all over that.    And nobody seems to heed "slow traffic keep right" anymore.   GET OUT OF THE FAST LANE.
And on and on.

I'll get on your ass if you're "actively" creeping by people at 10 over (generally, most sane human beings will do 5 over). What are you, driving a semi? Make the pass and move grandma. Gaaaaaawwwwwwd

I try to be courteous, but if I'm already doing 10 over and actively passing people, I'm not getting stuck in the right lane just so you can do 20 over.

It's a passing lane. If I'm passing, stay off my ass. I will move right when it's appropriate.

This was also one of the reasons that they used it helps control the speed and is why I will lane split when needed.

My problem is with those people that get passed by multiple people on the right and yet continue to sit in the left lane, even when given the chance to move over. I often try to give people a chance to get over and they still just sit there, and I end up having to go around on the right as well. I get it, I have found myself in the left lane a time or 2 and just not thinking about it in the car, but the minute someone goes by on the right I feel like a heel and move over ASAP. My daily commute would be so much nicer if others could figure out the left lane is for passing, but from what I have seen its not gonna happen. Many people feel if they are any speed over the limit they have the right to be in that left lane. Frustrating to me. I have no problem with you driving the speed you're comfortable with, just let me run my pace as well. Move over, I promise I won't take long to get by.

Three lanes. Left for passing. Right for exiting. Center for driving. That's the best I've seen.

Ohio has the shittiest drivers.

I agree that Ohio has more than it's share of bad drivers, but I think it's more of a big city thing than a state thing. When I travel across the country you can always tell when you get within 10 miles of a big city...traffic speed goes up,much more texting/phone use and territorial lane positioning/cutting people off increases.Just the me,me,me mentality of folks deep in the rat race.

Out west they've adapted to this system, and I'd contend that Texas and Arizona's drivers give any state in the nation a run for worst drivers. Out there the 3 lanes work like this:

Middle lane for really slow drivers - like 10-15 below the 75mph limit. They can't accept it's really that fast, like it's a trick.

Left lane for slightly braver drivers - only like 2-3mph below the speed limit, unless someone is towing a travel trailer, then it's 10 below.

Right lane is for furious out of state road ragers who will risk death, tickets and using the shoulder to pass the clusters of failboat slow pokes.

It worked like that for about 12-14 hours of my 12-14 hour drive from Vegas through Dallas recently.

I disagree. It's the country folk in the big city that screw it up. Golly Jim-bob, traffic was fine during rush hour. I just stayed in the left lane and there wasn't a soul in front of me". Quarter-Horse Congress is my favorite time though....all the idiots come to the big city with the trailers. If you don't have a place to be during rush hour, stay out of my city. Please.

I've been in Arizona 3 days and I'm just blown away. I truly thought drivers could not be any worse than those in the SW Ohio/Tri State area but this place is sure giving that title a run for their money

I'll gladly stay out of Columbus.Other than a couple good concert venues (Southern Theater and Ohio Theater),there isn't much there that interests me.I go through Columbus much more than I go to Columbus.
