zeitgeist57
My Vette's got 65k miles on it, and now has a terrible high-speed (65-75mph) front end shimmy. Most owners I've talked to indicate it's the tie-rod ends. Simple enough fix... Heres my problem: Advance Auto Parts: TRW tie-rod, greasable (zerk-fitting), and lifetime warranty, $80 per side. GM original: Delco tie-rod, non-greasable, 1yr warranty, $57.82 per side. Now, I know TRW makes a great ANYTHING, but am I just paying for the warranty? Is there really an advantage going to the GM part? I just want to do it right the first time. Thanks! smile.gif
excell
The fact that it's greaseable would be the best reason to buy it. Non-greaseable suspension parts are the devil.
Guest jo151
Hey will you go to work or something? BTW I got those hangers on.....my midpipe doesn't bang anymore. Don't worry about the shimmy, Ty doesn't go over 65 anyway so you won't notice. tongue.giftongue.gif
Buck531
Have you checked Jegs yet? They may have some Energy suspension parts for ya.
zeitgeist57
Joe, sshhh...I'm doing important bank research here! smile.gif Energy Suspension makes tie-rods??? I knew they made bushings...
Buck531
Hell if I know if they make them. I really don't know if they do or not. I got my end links from them.. just thought they (or jegs) might have something else.
Lustalbert
you paid the premium for a vette, and you are cant make up your mind about a $44 diferance on a set of rods? get the greaseable ones.
RS69
I would try Vette Brake Products to see if they are anything better, or hit one of the CorvetteForum sponsors. FYI, Mid America Corvette is having their spring swap meet I believe on April 2. There is a Corvette swap meet up in Lima this weekend; there might be some vendors with some new tie rods there. Unfortunately, I can’t go to either this year.
Kohones
I too would go with "greasable ones"
