The best part was it used 1/2qt of oil to get there.
Guest racinbird
They start wed night grudge?, damn, would have been a good night to go What performance mods do you have?
Crash1647545504
It was 50 degrees out! That could have something to do with it. I'm sure you would of had a better 60ft on a 80-90 degree day. Track temp makes all the difference. especialy when going for 60ft under 1.
RUTAN TA1647545492
I was thinking that leaving at 2k would have been easy enough for the weather and track conditions with my mods. I was hoping for a 1.8 60ft. that would have been a good starting point.Once again I was expecting more from trails

Vulcan900
A friend of mine had his camaro out there. It ran a 10.90ish. Today was just to see how the car runs after the winter off so he was very happy with the results.
Nitrousbird
You need better tires. Nitto DR's = great sticky tires for the street, but not the most optimal tire for the track. Try a set of Mickey Thompson Drag Radials. Everyone seems to be having really good luck w/ those. It seems to be the new DOT tire of choice (many say they hook better than ET Streets....too bad they don't make the same size DR that I have in my ET Street's or I would have to consider a pair). OGRE
ditto nittos are the worst DR.
MrMeanGreen
BFGs. I cut consistant 1.6x 60' in sub-50* weather with a near stock suspension smile.gif
RUTAN TA1647545492
Is there still any spots open for Norwalk?
MrMeanGreen
Yeah, somewhere around 30.
rl
Its hard to make a track hook well when you have SOOO many street tired cars tearing the line up... BFG's or MT's would work better as well....
Nitrousbird
I'd definately have to say MT's over BFG's. The BFG's have been around for years, and the BFG records all seem to be being broken by the fairly recently released MT DR's. Since neither will last long w/ street use (unlike the Nitto's), the BFG's are pretty much obsolete.

I ran ETs the last two times at the track and got the SAME traction 1.6x 60' as I did with the BFGs. On top of that, the BFGs don't make it feel like you're driving on jello. Boost-n-Juice
I used to run a 1.9x 60's taking off at idle (5spd) with bald 225/50 - 15's. You are over powering the tires, not the track.
fordstang2000GT
I had my best 60' ever on Nitto DR's Sunday 4/17/05. 1.77 60' on Nitto 275/40/17. I think it's hooking quite well. went 12.60 on that pass. Luanched at 5600 rpms
RUTAN TA1647545492
I was launching at 1800 and it would spin all the way through first. I could honestly say that my car hooks better on the street.
03STEED
Hooked pretty damn good last time I was there too.. 1.63 60' and 12.28 on BFG's. Stock rear suspension / drivetrain and adjustable struts / coil overs / no sway bar on front.

My $.02 smile.gif A bias-ply tire out back and radials up front will make the rear end feel "wavy". I was also comparing ET Radials to BFG DR's. Obviously if you were pulling the same 60' on both ET Streets and BFG DR's, you either don't have anything left in the car 60' wise, didn't heat the ET Streets enough, ran too much tire pressure in them, or some other factor, as they are DEFINATELY a stickier and better launching tire than a BFG DR. RUTAN TA1647545492
I will probably go back to the BFG dr's b/c I drive my car ALOT! I know they wear out fast, but they handle decent.
Guest powers
I can't remember the excact time but James Hensler was there 2 weeks ago and was getting 1.3x-1.4x 60's
