Yeah, I've heard Trcquest is expensive, on top of the fact that MO is already an expensive track to run at and you end up with prices like that. I'd much rather do a NASA day and plan on doing a NASA or other (less expensive) club day later in the season there. I really want to do that track too, it looks fun. graemlins/thumb.gif

It's the 2 day is only 385 for the no-frills package...the $500 give you meals and accomodations if I remember correctly.

My interpritation of the NASA is it's more geared towards competition cars and I'd need to add extra safety equipment to my car to participate and there's not as much instruction involved...but it's been awhile since I've seen te NASA site.

Can someone please clear up what is needed for the NASA events and how much instruction you get that day? At this point the Tracquest event is looking much better than the BMW CCA event later this year that's even more expensive yet.

Thanks for any input on the NASA events...I'm very intersted in learning more.

NASA HPDE events are good. You are paired with an instructor, once he or she feels that you won't hurt anyone, or yourself, you can drive on your own. The instruction is adequate, but it is a good way to get track time cheap.

I've done two at Mid-Ohio, you really can't beat it for the quality of track you are on.

You tech your own car, all it needs is a working seatbelt, and to be in good working order. You will need a helmet. That is all.

Let me know if you have any more questions. smile.gif

NASA has the same classroom teaching sessions and in-car instructors. I don't remember them doing a 'follow the leader' lap, but those are usually so slow, they do little good. My instructor at Mid-Ohio was great, my friend's was less helpful, YMMV.
