RedRocket1647545505
So, I'm on a mission to find all the somewhat popular rock songs that I've heard on 99.7 and 107.1 (RIP) over the past 10 years or so. I'm talking some of the one hit wonders and such. The guys that had one damn good song, and then disappeared. I'm also looking for some of the stuff from the mainstream guys. Is there any music billboard chart or something that goes back that far? Side note: I saw someone had the band 'Submersed' listed in the current music thread. I'd forgotten completely about this band. 'Hollow' was the only song that I know of that ended up on the radio. This is the type of stuff I'm looking for. Guest Hal
I think you can search on google for a billboard chart for a specific genre and a specific year.
BuckeyeGT
the toadies made that one song "possum king" that is constantly played on 99.7. The rest of the 90s grunge they play is souley pearl jam, nirvana, alice in chains, smashing pumpkins, and a little janes addiction. Edit: cant forget tool, and, the most annoying band of all time, rage against the machine.
Duff1647545513
and, the most annoying band of all time, rage against the machine. +1 I hate rage.......don't care for metallica much at all either
Patrick
New music makes me appreciate the classics. There has been nothing truely groundbreaking nor original in the past ~5-10 years, but good luck on your search. Agreed. The only 'groundbreaking' thing that came around would be the White Stripes, and they're just updated blues.
TheHaze
Agreed. The only 'groundbreaking' thing that came around would be the White Stripes, and they're just updated blues. I'd hardly consider them groundbreaking. They bring nothing original to the table.
Primera
There is a good amount of original stuff these days. You just have to resort to tracking down these bands/musicians rather than listening to the radio. And I'll agree, The White Stripes is far from groundbreaking. Now to make this thread interesting, let's get a debate on who thinks Nirvana is one of the main reasons for all the shitty rock you hear on the radio these days. Patrick
There's a reason why i put it in quotes. I know they're not. It's the only artist I can think of who has tried to break the mold, even a little, in mainstream music. BTW, Nirvana's Bleach has been one of my favorite albums for a long time. Pretty different from Nevermind. I rarely listen to the radio anymore unless I have to. I can't stand the whininess.
