evan9381
my brothers car (96 saab 900cse) caught fire last night on the west side. my dad couldnt find anywhere to get it towed to, so its sitting at his place now. it looks like the battery exploded...the engine bay, hood, are all trashed...fenders are burnt up, as well as some of the front end...anything from the firewall back (interior, body panels, rear end) are still in relatively good shape. what should he do about it? hang on to it and try to part it out for whats left, or just take it to a junkyard for bottom dollar? heres a couple pics http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/DSC01180.jpg?t=1180913443 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/DSC01181.jpg?t=1180913443 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/DSC01194.jpg?t=1180913443 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/DSC01196.jpg?t=1180913443 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/DSC01203.jpg?t=1180913443

I called some rednecks from southern ohio to come get my 240 after it was on fire. they gave me what I paid for it cause they knew how to scrap a car to get every last cent out of it. hot_wire
I realize that you haven't made a decision yet, but if you decide to junk it, I may be interested in some parts. Could you take some pictures of the wheels and tires? I'm very interested (if they happen to be 15x6.5's I'll most likely lose control of my bowels) Just need a set to mount some autox tires on... Sorry to be such a shark you will have a pm if you decide to junk

hot_wire
This car has the TD04HL-15t turbo, correct? How's that looking? Anybody think that a turbo could survive a fire like this?
2pointslow
i would say...no.
BloodRed
From the looks of that engine, I would say no, the turbo didn't survive. But I guess it will just matter where it is located at. If it is on the passenger side of the car, it might not be too bad. Hey Evan, is this your emo/goth brothers car? Hatchet and broken toilet one? evan9381
i dont know the condition of the turbo. im sure if it did survive, its going to need a rebuild kit, at the very least. these are the wheels on the car...not sure on the size. shoot me an offer, and ill call my dad tonight and let him know, and see what he wants to do about it http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/DSC01186.jpg?t=1180935373

No, they were going to give me $100 for a crx, when I found another junkyard to give me $140. You got to call around and ask for estimates. Crossle
call the *we buy your junk cars* They are cool, because they haul it for free where ever it is sitting. You aren't going to get top dollar tho.....i guess it depends on how you have to get it to the scrap yard. As in do you have access to a trailer? I would part some of it....not many more SAAB people besides Ed on here that i know of..... sean
