I have to throw a vote in for the mustangs also. They have always had a great sound in v8 forum. Either factory or a good after market. My favorite has to be a pro stocker. Course thats not street legal. My favorite street sound has to be a classic mopar starting. Ma' mopar had a great sounding starter that fired equally great sounding line of classic motors. You can always tell a classic mopar when it comes to life.

SRT-4's sound like spaceships. True story.

I personally like the:

Boxer motor (suby style)

4A-GE

2.3t-does sound like a tractor

Rotary...preferrably a Racing Beat system on a stockport, especially 12A.

And you can never forget the V8, I'm in favor of the Chevy sbc.

i'll agree with the muscle machines: but the ones with a wide lobe separation cam

something around 115 (really hipo versions)

on a ram air IV pontiac, that separation and a dual exhaust (with NO H-pipe or x-pipe) means you can hear each cylinder individually - it pats back and forth radically

It's like a song when you're listening to it from the rear

Wow...some of you must be deaf.

In no order:

- Most things Ferrari and Lamborghini...hell, most V12's for that matter

- 5.0 / 4.6 Mustangs, Ford GT, some older Ford V8 stuff.

- BBC (big time, especially on alcohol); a lot of SBC and GEN-II SBC stuff. LSx based stuff if it has the right exhaust setup on it...it can go either way on those motors.

That's pretty general; there are a few other specific examples.

But come on...Viper V10's??!! They sound like a pissed off UPS truck...YUCK! Rotaries; that's pretty much the worst sounding motor ever created. I think I'd rather hear a Honda with an open exhaust manifold than a rotary.
