Don't get black, that's my color. The 95-97 XJR is a "statement" car, meaning that they went above and beyond to make them good. This means that they aren't plagued with the normal jag wiring crap. As long as the weight on the trailer is neutral and the trailer has brakes, you'll be fine. It's got more torque than most V8 gasoline trucks and OE 255 tires all around. AWD isnt necessary in ohio, unless you suck at driving in adverse conditions. gti is a great choice, and can be had used for half the money you are trying to spend. the wrx is nice, but the mileage is OK, 25mpg at most when driven light and it runs fine on 89, no knock what so ever! and no interior space how bout 03+ bmw 3, or 5 series? very quick, great mileage, sits low with no clearance issues. add a set of rims and your good to go! Tractor Posted January 21, 2008 Report Share Posted January 21, 2008 Get a `05 or newer tacoma 4x4 double cab. I had the same basic problem when I was looking for a vehicle. I wanted 4 wheel drive, 4 person seating when necessary, towing capacity, and not terrible gas mileage. I went all out and got the TRD offroad model with extra truck stuff like a locking rear differential. It gets 19-21mpg city or highway. Tows 7,000lbs easily. I've had it towing 8,500lbs and it was just getting sluggish and slower to stop. Then engine has over 50K on it now and still needs to go twice that far before any maint is necessary. I would stay away from the dodges if you can help it. Out of the big 3 we see more dodges coming into the shop for tranny repairs and ball joints that need replaced more than we do the Ford or Chevys COMBINED! A Jag isn't going to be able to handle that...AT ALL. Besides, car haulers aren't exactly light. I think mine is ~1500lbs. Before I rewired my electric brakes (both axles), I was hauling ~4500lbs + 500lbs in passengers + the ~1500lb trailer, and it wasn't exactly pleasant to stop @ 75MPH. However, I wanted the cummins over the power stroke which meant I had to go Dodge.I did go with the 6 speed manual which should last longer then dodge auto.
