A+ for ODOT

Now if only they would STOP WITH THE SALT! Sheesh.. There's more salt than asphalt on the roads. When the roads dry, cars will kick up salt dust into the air! They should cut it with sand. The winters here are much like Cape Cod, and there's no salt use on Cape Cod. It just sucks to see the salt crust all over and under my cars after driving on these roads. I had planned to DD the STI all winter, but after seeing what just 2 winter months of ODOT roads did to the undercarriage, it's sitting in my garage until it warms up. :(

Our community just hired a local fellow to plow and salt our side streets  Fairly cost effective and 200% better than any other roads around.

I was thinking about this for our area aswell. We live on a culdesac so the only time our street ever gets plowed is when the sun shines and melts the snow away. It sucks.

I can't recall from recent memory a more brutal February from a weather standpoint.

Ah, remember February '76? Twas' a rough one. Barely a can of beans and bread to go around. Of course, I gave my own share for the benefit of the family. Water was hard to come by...all frozen. Difficult walk to work through the woods and fields and pastures, but someone had to do it. Was a rough time indeed.

Yes, I remember that year. That was the year I invented Scotch tape, gold, and solar power. With all those snow days, I had a lot of free time.

Ah, yes indeed. Did not know that was you. Many a clock-round spent in my basement using your inventions to create Crystal Pepsi. Shame it did not take off as expected.

I sure do....just back in 2003 actually. We had our basement finished and my garage was full of the basement stuff and thus one car sat outside :( Took them 15 business days to finish it and it snowed every damn day it seemed. Our side street was so bad my wife's Alero sat outside as the aero kit was too low and she couldn't make it down the street without f'ing it up.

It was the only year my Trailblazer saw snow as 01 and 02 were pretty warm.

I figured I could get through the winters if the roads were like they are in MA. But this much crud and corrosion in just 2 months is unreal. I'm surprised the WRX still is in one piece after 5 winters. As it is, I've been doing work on it and bolts are either fine because they were sealed, or one solid piece with the nut. :p I want to be buried in my STI, so it has to last.

I'm not scared of rain, just salt. The STI will be out and about all spring/summer/fall. The WRX will be doing work miles and RallyX/offroad during that time.
