The importance of money in hand before a test ride

A guy came early this morning to buy my 600RR and I let him take it out to make sure he was happy with what he was getting and he laid it down literally 100 feet away from my house.

Cold tires, cold pavement, bike can go down easily.

Luckily I had the certified bank check in hand before I let him take the bike down the road and it is now his responsibility to repair it.

Make sure you get the money before you allow a test ride!

This was at like 7:30 AM and it was below freezing... he just tried to take off around the corner in the neighborhood in the bike just went down - slid right out from under him.

The bike had frame sliders and bar ends that absorbed most of the impact, but the tail section hit the ground and is scraped, the mirror is damaged, and the windscreen was scraped up from the mirror swinging into it. Also, the rear powdercoated peg was scraped up pretty badly.
