SvtKid
That's b/c herding dogs were breed for a very physically demanding job. If they don't have a job then they will have a ton of built up energy which can turn into destructive behaviors. i know thats why they are a hand full...but still great dogs. 87GT
i know thats why they are a hand full...but still great dogs. Ya he is in the house a lot. They exercise him but probably not enough. My aunt has a collie as a service dog and he doesn't listen sometimes. I don't think a collie should be a service dog.

HotCarl
hands down its the German Shepherd. find me another dog used for as many purposes (seeing eye, bomb/drug sniffing, police attack dogs, guard dogs, etc) that can still be docile and friendly. TECHNICALLY the most common dogs bred for police dogs are Belgium Malinois and are prefered in most cases. Something about being smarter, easier to train and a long life span than Shepherd's. My step dad helps train police dogs for CPD, Dublin and Powell PD's. Call me an asshole but, Ive never understood the point of having a dog if it doesnt serve any REAL purpose. Does that make any sense to anyone else? In Sam's case, the purpose is to make his day better which he does. If I had a family dog i would want it to be protective over my family. If its just a fat slob that walks around all day then i look at it as just another mouth to feed. Thats not to say i would never have a dog, I would LOVE a rottweiler (sp?) or an Amstaf but i would feel horrible if i didnt spend time with it and jsut kept it in a cage all day. thorne
You know boxers are in that same category right? Also, Boxers > * I did not list them all.
verse
Ah yes...AKA the hound that won't run away first chance it gets I love basset hounds. Not always. Hounds were breed to follow their nose and a lot of times they will do that no matter how loyal they are. Plus hound dogs howl too much, so annoying. thorne
http://youtube.com/watch?v=mBus4GGsyb4 The reason you have pits that are unstable is because of bad breeding. http://youtube.com/watch?v=mBus4GGsyb4 Learn more about the breed before you trash them. Anyone who says pits are evil is the dumbest fuck in the world. Many POWER BREEDS/Working BREEDS can cause serious damage. I hate this fucking shit because I get shit for my dog. http://www.i7-d.com/thorne/theboys/100_0508.JPG Bulls 4 life

Well I dont wanna say that it makes my day better is the only reason I have her. She is very protective and does bark if she hears something she is not familiar with, i.e. someone coming up the driveway or something, so she also alerts me to anything out of the ordinary. I also feel bad about leaving dogs in cages, I leave mine in the laundry room which gives her the freedom to move around and walk around, play or sleep in her bed. As soon as I get home from work she goes outside to run around till she feels like coming in or I usually go out with her and play weather depending. THE STING
Guaranteed that there are just as many other dog maulings, its just they only televise the pits because of the bad rap they get. German shepherds actually lead the country in dog bites, but pits own the record for most kills and mauling.......some were provoked and many were not....but keep in mine that a lot of dogs are provoked by people (mainly children) but pits are the main ones known to go for the kill.....
