boooo to class action lawsuits.

a couple notes from the lawsuit itself. firstly, its specific to mobile gpu's (read: laptop cards) and says nothing of desktop gpu's. secondly, it makes no mention at all of what theyre suing for. damages? replacements? the fun of it? this smacks of those tv commercials that are all the rage these days...

"have you or a loved one suffered through explosive diarrhea while taking enzyte? call shyster and assoc..." kind of stuff.

what i wouldnt be extremely suprised to learn is that intel had something to do with this. why, you ask? the new nvidia gpu, while technically made for graphics only, mated with CUDA is faster than any of intels current offerings. by a bunch, actually. theres been talk of it for a while now, but nvidia is one 45 nm chip away from being able to throw down in the cpu arena, and throw down with some serious ouch. who doesnt want that? intel, thats who.

Looks like I have to find a new chipset to look to.

Huh? Nvidia is getting out of the chipset business anyway, that was announced like a month ago. As far as the whole lawsuit thing, it's the shareholders bringing a suit against the company for not disclosing the supply problems they have had. If the problems turn out to be costly, and there is a paper trail showing that management knew what was about to happen, it could get ugly. At least, as far as the stock price is concerned. Nvidia has enough other business to keep it afloat.
