XChris1632X
I don't know too much about knives. I figured this would be the best place for questions regarding them. Guns and knives just are meant to be together. I am looking to buy a decent everyday knife. Maybe you military guys can help out (Scotty I know you have to have something). I dont want anything too expensive right now just because someone is buying it for me. Under $100 would be prefered. Point me in the right direction. I would like to have something spring loaded/spring assisted. My buddy went to vances and bought one that is spring loaded and has a re-enforeced tip on the end from what I understand is meant for stabbing. He had to use his active duty ID to purchase it. It is a nice knife but I dont know if I will be able to buy that from my current location. I dont even know yet if I am going to have a problem getting anything through customs here. That is being looked at as we speak. If you guys have some info on something good to look into or even a place that I can purchase online that would be great. EVILGTP98
I have got, hmm, has to be around 25 knives lying around in random places. I do like my knives, I picked up a Gerber with a 4 inch blade and sheath and a rubber grip and its my go to knife. I use it for everything from deer hunting to misc. shit, a few minutes with the sharpening stone and I can shave with it. Been a great knife for me, got a couple K-bar military knives and a bunch that are just random for the collection, mostly long sheath knives, not a big fan of folders, but I have a few. Good luck, Cabelas, which I know is a hike, but they have a good selection for good prices. Good luck
GonneVille
Don't bother with any of the fancy shit out there. Get a good simple folder with a thumb-opener. Gerber is damn good stuff, just make sure you get the better of the two steels they offer. This one has everything you asked for though, drop point, spring assist, thumb stud. http://www.rockynational.com/2302_22-07162_Gerber_Fast_Draw_Spring_Assisted_Fine_Edge.html
dakotart
I have a SOG brand and its pretty awesome. be mindful of the "Spring assisted" verses a "Switchblade" Switchblade knives are a felony in Ohio if I remember correctly. copperhead
http://www.bladehq.com/item--Kalashnikov-KAL74B-Manual--68 I have another version of this that I can't carry  but I promise these knives are nice as fuck, and you can't go wrong for the price
cinergi
Feel free to throw any knife questions my way. I know quite a bit about knives. Last count I had nearly 180. If you come in I will be more than happy to figure out what works for you, etc. No obligation to buy, I just love educating people on knives. JaSSon
I had a really nice Benchmade knife (courtesy of Greg) that I used to carry....until it fell out of my pocket and got lost someplace. Now I carry a CRKT M16-10Z. It's part of their EDC (Every Day Carry) line. It's like a $35 knife so If I lose it it's no biggy. It's actually a nice knife tho. I recommend it. Scotty2Hotty
I had a SOG seal pup, a Ka-Bar and a SRK blade around me in one way or another overseas. Not to mention my needle nose Gerber, which I will say is better than any swiss army knife on the planet. I mostly had the SRK and Ka-Bar due to length of blade SRK http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/uploads/post-20225-1143355049.jpg It's nice to have something to cut away clothing, gear, safety harness for when riding in whirley birds, and not to mention last resort hand to hand. Draco-REX
One of my favorites was a tanto-tipped Bali-Song with serrations. I used that knife for everything. Unfortunately, it's not exactly legal in a lot of states. The store I bought it from didn't have the original packaging so I didn't know that the manufacturer offered tune-ups and repairs. When it broke I tossed it. I regret that. I also seem to be the only person that opens one of those with a vertical whiplike motion rather than the flashier figure eight. Not to take any sales away from Cenergi but you may want to check out Rivers Edge Cutlery near 270 and Cemetery Rd, http://www.riversedgecutlery.com . Huge selection of knive of all sorts, kitchen type as well. Also a stocking Maxpedition dealer.
spankis
Me and a few of my friends ( both Eagle Scouts, lol ) all have the same Kershaw model that's pretty nice and has held up a while. It has the Tanto-tip that was mentioned I believe. This is it: http://www.kershawknives.com/productdetails.php?id=85&brand=kershaw The pocket clip is also reversible, so the knife can be pulled out of your pocket "safely", or reversed for instant flip-open assault mode . Going on 3 years with mine.

GonneVille
Just a personal prejudice here; I HATE serrations. They're useful only for a few things, and they take up valuable cutting edge, and they're a huge pain in the butt to sharpen. If you want just about the ultimate blade, check out Boker Ceramics. Nothing like being able to shave the edge off your buddy's titanium pocket folder... http://www.boker.de/us/index.php?c=37,1,16&a=112040&p=&pp=

You forgot the possible need to cut a fellow riders life jacket off of him after he invites more dumb ass friends out and they decide it is a good idea to use another ski and rider to slow them down instead of going around them. Wow the memories of another summer on the lake.

I have the Ka-Bar covered, I was looking more towards just a easily deployable, more discreet fold up as a go to knife. Something that is somewhat tactical and I can place on the outside of my gear or even just clip on to my M9 drop holster.
