I can't help it that Ford designed one of the best rear ends ever, and GM's rears have sucked for years. Too bad Ford hasen't used the 9inch in their cars for quite some time now. Yeah well GM's IRS rears suck too. I'll just stick with my f-body, and upgrade the rear.
starkmaster03
I pulled to 10 bolt out today and tore it apart to get the backing plates off to use with the 9" and found that this one as well had stripped the pinion gear. http://inlinethumb25.webshots.com/42584/2631103440084904615S600x600Q85.jpg

koolrayz
You are so going to HATE that aluminum center section. I had one. It allows flex and the gears will be howling in no time. They suck on the street.

That is what I was debating for the longest time, which to go with and I was on LS1tech and called Exotic Performance and they said that they have not had any issue or complaints about it flexing. Either way it's to late now, I guess I'll see.

I didnt see it happenning either, but I was warned before I bought it this would happen. I had that rearend in for many years and had 4 different gear sets in it. They were not pro sets and were set up correctly. They would all start out dead quite and after a year of beating on them they would be whining. The gears themselves would show alot of wear and there would be a sharp edge on the top of the ring gears. I thought a ford expert like yourself would have known more about the 9"

I thought a ford expert like yourself would have known more about the 9" well you kind of answered your own question there. " They would all start out dead quite and after a year of beating on them they would be whining. The gears themselves would show alot of wear and there would be a sharp edge on the top of the ring gears" sounds like they was not set up correctly. and it's hard to compromise on a setup. there are different settings for street and drag race setup's. and was your the same bolt thru center like he has? cause the setup stark has here, is the strongest one i know of. now the normal ones without the bolt thru setup would flex why letting off a trans brake none stop. what gears where you running? 99ta
My 9" will be getting purchased here soon. just trying to decide who to buy it from. EEP with the moser, midwest fab 9", or jawgears ford 9". all about the same price. I don't know much about rear ends so I am having a hard time deciding, and its a lot of money.
