They're best used to make a car not suck.

its an electric car. if the motor directly powers the wheels, it doesnt need a transmission or multiple gears. a transmission would be extra weight, which kills the efficiency of the electric car. and thats what they are really all about... miles per charge.

electric motors have more than enough torque to power you from a dead stop to interstate speeds. they say that dodge makes 268hp and 480 ft lbs of torque. 0-60 in less than 5. 1/4 in low 13... 120+ top seed

i couldnt find any specs about its drive system though. the only thing it really says is this

Electric Vehicle Technology. Chrysler’s battery electric vehicles utilize just three primary powertrain components. These include an electric motor to drive the wheels, an advanced lithium-ion battery system to power the electric-drive motor and a controller that manages energy flow. The electric-drive system is being developed for front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-drive, and body-on-frame four-wheel-drive vehicle applications.
it could have some sort of CVT in it... which may be the best thing for an electric vehicle. to maximize toruqe and minimize RPM the computer chooses the best RPM and ratio to deliver whatever the driver requests every second.

sounds like a big electric drill... with that bit about the controller to manage energy flow. give it a little juice, and it goes slow. floor it and it takes off like a rocket.

It still needs a stick.

For now though, I'm an econo-box.

My parents say it's what's inside that counts, but my drivers keep falling asleep.
