Cafe Racer project

Recommended Posts

Picked up Terron's '76 CB750 SS today in hopes of transforming it into a nice Cafe Racer.

This is the end result that I'm shooting for.

Here's what she looked like before I got my mitts on her.

First thing I did was pull off the Easy Rider rear seat and removed the rear fender.

I have quite a few irons in the fire right now, but I'm hoping to get her running to where I can at least get some riding in. I'm thinking that most of the more major changes will come during the off season.

Stay tuned. :D

I've got a buddy doing a similar project. Has a first attempt carbon\kevlar seat pan he might be willing to sell for a fair price. Not the prettiest thing, hence first attempt, but a layer of paint will fix that and it is very light and strong.

2 front rotors=win

+1. I noticed that your '76 lacks the dual front's the later ('79s+) had.

Though...for the price you bought the bike at, combined with the limited amount of racing you're likely to do, a single front rotor should be just fine.

Be sure to replace the tires with RWL (raised white lettered) tires, like Dunlops

I'm kind of leaning towards picking up a set of Comstar Wheels, but will more than likely be going with a RWL tire. I'm planning on heading to Vintage Days at Mid Ohio at the end of July to snag some parts and check out some other Cafes.

that should be a sweet bike when its all done. My dad just gave me his 1980 CB 750 custom, not sure which way to go with it yet. Just put a pipe on it, jet kit and K&N on the way.

dirt tires and bring it over to robs shop and we will have fun with it

For the price you paid for that bike and the options that are avail to make that thing so bad ass, it makes me want to do the same.

How do they ride? Would they be a good first timers attempt at bikes?

The tank isn't in the best of shape. There's a pretty good crease in the right side, so I'm not certain whether I'll even use this one.

ive got a spare sportster tank if you wanna switch to a bobber ;)
