2005 Chevy Kodiak

Its been a while since I posted a truck up. We just recently finished up a project for a customer that several cr members were able to catch a glimpse of during its progress. It was a pretty big attention getter while it was in the shop. I thought I would post up some pics so that those that saw it in the shop could see the finished project.

The customer came in with a 2005 Chevy Kodiak. The customers inspiration for the project was Ironhide from the Transformers movies. After getting a rough idea of what the goal was, the guys got to work immediately putting ideas together and tossing them off the customer to come up with what he really wanted out of the finished project.

Here is what the truck looked like when we first got it.

The front and rear bumpers were replaced with Road Armor steel bumpers. The front was filled with a 12k lb winch and 2 sets of Piaa Lights.

From there, a black paint job was in order. A lot of little cosmetic stuff was done in black as well. The chrome running boards were given a black textured treatment and all of the accent lighting was smoked. One of the biggest challenges was the conversion from rear dual wheels to a single wheel. We ended up having custom 20" rims built for the truck and then wrapped them in 40" tires.

The customer was really into the Transformers theme and really wanted it incorporated into the truck somehow. From there the idea of putting the Transformers logo into the tailgate came about. The customer was really hot on the idea so we had our painter work his magic. We also went ahead and surpised the customer by having the logo painted into the bowtie on the front as well.

All in all, it was a really fun project to work on. It was really cool to get to see the customers reaction when he picked the truck up with his family. He was really thrilled with the results and at the end of the day, that is what makes our jobs so enjoyable.

Thanks for all of the nice words guys!

make me one.........for free.

I checked last week and we already gave away all of the extras that we had laying around.

my questions is...does he use it?

Yes he does use it. We actually had to do some fab work on the back end to get a Class V hitch on the back so he could tow with it.

Gezz guys congrats the truck turned out amzing!!! Dam scott was teasing us with this project

Did u guys do any performance mods or interior or was this strictly exterior?

Again congrats ur hard work payed out!

The only thing done performance wise was a Diablo Predator which the customer already had. Interior was left stock. This was pretty much and exterior appearance type thing.

Wat.

That's the same truck?!

Yup, it had it's own transformation. I think the truck came out better than we all imagined when we started.

While this was our basis for the project:

I think that we nailed it on the head, with a few other touches to make it something one off. Funny story, when we first had the truck on a test drive with the customer, there was a Ferarri F430 behind the truck. Needless to say, more necks we snapped looking at the truck than the Ferarri. By far, I think this was the coolest project vehicle we've done this year.

Top Notch Work Brady!

Thanks. I cant really take the credit though. I actually did very little work on this one as I was tied up on several other projects. Most of the credit deserves to go to Kyle, Cole, Devin, Alan, and Scott. They really came together and figured everything out and made it work. Now I did teach them everything they know if that counts!:D
