Hi there, my name is Mike, I'm currently a freshman at Ohio State. I drive a 2005 Mustang v6, and a 1995 Probe GT.

Currently the Mustang only has an intake tune and catback on it, with 17" black bullits as wheels; although future planned mods include an 3.5" aluminum driveshaft, underdrive pullys, and a 8.8 inch Ford rear end (takeoff from a 05-09 GT) with 3.73 gears. Long term plans involve the car getting boost, preferably from some sort of custom turbo setup.

Hoping to get to know some people down here, I'm originally from Toledo.

fancy intro. welcome. i woulda spend all that money on a 4,6 before i baught all the other little mods.

Thing is, I got it at a good deal, and the difference in price between what I paid and what I would pay for a GT is about the same as the cost of everything I want to do to it...so I'll take my lower insurance / better MPGs and slightly more unique car for the same money spent overall. That and turbo 4.0s have been known to run low 12s fairly easily, which is a GT + bolt ons. I believe the record for a stock internal 4L was somewhere in the 10s on twin turbos and nitrous.

Im not looking to make a drag monster out of it (id buy a 5.4 or wait and get a new 5.0 if I wanted to do that). Just a nice quick street car that goes to the track every once in a while is good enough for me.

Thanks for the welcomes, seems like a pretty cool site from what I can see so far .

Fuck that noise, dude...you've got a waaaaaay better car than I had in college ('88 Suzuki Samurai back in 1996-2000). Enjoy the better fuel economy and drive it 'til the wheels fall off. :)

Welcome to CR, Mike. Good intro. I hope to see you at some of our meets this spring.

And when you get ready to do some of your mods, check out our sponsors. They've got lots of good suggestions for what you want to accomplish and I've found them eager to help CR members. After you come on board, you can view the sponsor list here: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36577

Welcome! Good intro. The Mustang looks nice. Auto or manual?

I've driven a stock '05 V6 stang, it wasn't too bad. I've also driven a Probe GT (24v maybe?) and it was a pretty fun car actually.

Auto. The factory T5 in these cars can barely handle stock power. Id have to auto swap or put a Tremec 3650 or 6060 in if I wanted to go with anything much more than I've got right now power wise. The auto in the v6 trim is the same as in the GTs, and are good to way more HP than I plan on running through this thing. These cars run 15 seconds flat stock, so theyre not as slow as most people remember v6 Mustangs being.

The Probe is manual, and yeah the GT probes are 24v Mazda motors. Not fast, but it runs pretty reliably and gets out of its own way so it DDs nice.

Gearhead: The fastest v6 S-197 car I know of was a 10.91 (maybe 10.97), on twin turbos and a 75 shot of nitrous. Stock internals as far as I know. The guy later swapped a 5.4 into his car (he blew his motor apart a few runs after he broke 10s) and still hasn't broken his V6 record with his new motor.

Thanks again for the warm welcome fellas.

good intro. keep the car near stock if you ask me. "daily driver", and "custom turbo kit" don't go in the same sentence. unless that sentence is "i have a nice, reliable daily driver AND another car which has a custom turbo kit on it."

there you go

kindest regards

what year are you? do you live on campus?

Yeah, Im a Freshman living in Lincoln Tower.

Either the Probe will be mechanically immaculate or I'll get something reliable for a DD before I go turbo. Nothing funnier than a guy without wheels because his "DD" broke down and his other car is in pieces.
