pretty good. Lense needs cleaned but not bad at all.

Looks like sensor dust. f/11 is about where it will begin to show on the D300. Easy fix.

Nice shots!

Next time try staying at the lowest ISO. ISO50 or 100. Shoot manual mode and stay at f/8 if you can. If you still run into exposure issues, try a neutral density filter. Or better yet, shoot RAW and bump down the exposure. If the storm is far away, ND Filters will cause the bolts to be a little thinner, but they work well.

Not sure if they have them for Nikon but Canon offers a Lightning Trigger. Cools shit if you're a storm nut.

I was shooting around f11-f14 with iso at 200 (any lower and it goes to L.03, L.02, L.01) I was using a remote trigger on bulb and just leaving the shutter open for 10-20 seconds.

I still need to pickup some ND filters.

We just got the edge of the bad part of it up here. No hail, though. I heard is was carrying some big hail at one point. I stood outside in the garage to watch the lightning. Blinded the hell outta me a couple times.

Love 'em.

Speaking of which, as a "storm nut" I didn't see that weather mass coming last night at all. There was no real indication from weather reports that day...cool stuff nonetheless...

they popped up on radar out of no where fast. I was watching it on a weather app on my phone as we tried to get the kids to bed. didn't work....we all camped out in the family room with sleeping bags and tents just to make the most of it :D I had fun too :o
