what is the difference between a regular 4.3 and a vortec?

Can I just put an intake manifold and up from a vortec onto a regular 4.3 or are there a lot of things I would need?

I think the heads might be different. I'm not 100% sure.

I have been searching and keep seeing some posts saying that the heads would need changed then I see some saying all 4.3's from mid 80's up had the same heads, and that I would need only need to swap out the injection setup.

 

I found some one wanting to trade me a 92 4.3 with 80,000 miles. Said it's not vortec. I need a vortec engine for my mothers 94 bravada. If I can just swap over a few things I may get it.

Heads are different. Vortec also had a balance shaft.
