XChris1632X
Cool! Take some pics when you have it apart, if you don't mind. I have never worked on or seen these worked on. So I'm kinda curious. I probably wont do much to the ones I get this year. Are they fairly basic to work on as far as the actual work, and just hard because of the limited space? Or? This is what my ski looks like most of the summer, tore apart. They are not bad to work on. They are just very intimidating at first. When I first started working on mine there werent a whole lot of information about what everyone was doing and not a whole lot of instruction. Now so many people have messed with them that there are endless instruction on how to do stuff. I had some plans for mine this year but I might wait. Mine is reliable right now and I like that. Someone in Idaho modded there ski exactly after mine and I was told they made 304hp. I have a lot of small things to still do to my ski. I am still missing alot of the free efficiency mods. My ski has topped out at 76mph and I dont even have rideplate holes filled so I know I have more left.
XChris1632X
These are a few pics I have from having it tore apart and working on mine. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hayden/IMG_0643.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hayden/IMG_0653.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hayden/IMG_0639.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hayden/IMG_0638.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hayden/IMG_0637.jpg Gives you an idea how things look under the hood and with a lot of the non essential parts removed as well. XChris1632X
What prop do you have? I might need a second one for colder months. Tunning should be interesting for those of you that don't know, not only do you have to watch the A/F but you also have to tune the ski to run at WOT just below redline which is controled by prop or the size of the nozzle on the ski. I have switched props so many times now that I dont remember which one is in there right now. I will try to look for it and let you know. Linn1647545492
Bling don't make you faster yo! Hahahaha It does when, that bling touches the water and reduces drag. The stock piece was cast and felt like sandpaper.

Bahnstoermer1647545488
Linn, has polished been proven faster? I was thinking a controlled dimple like a golf ball actually had less fluid resistance, but I've never really read any real scientific studies on the exact application. Does the mass of ski modification knowledge show you pick up speed with a polish?

Does the mass of ski modification knowledge show you pick up speed with a polish? No one has really taken the time to polish a plate before and do before and after number. There is debate on weither a sanded surface is faster or a polished surface. The water will act as a sand blaster with the plate and it will not stay polished long. Miller
I did 60 on a ski and I could only do it so long before I freaked out. Good luck.

Does the mass of ski modification knowledge show you pick up speed with a polish? Interesting, would love to see back to back results. We found a boat bottom was a lot faster with a 600 grit directional sand compared to a waxed smooth finish bottom, our results were proven at lake x. Bahnstoermer1647545488
Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking. I've heard someone else say they waxed the whole hull, then went slower.. I should invent a stick on dimple kit and make millions

Linn1647545492
Well I made some more progress on the ski last weekend and starting pulling some things apart. When I pulled the intake grate off the bottom of the ski, I found the center washer pulled through. I was going to work the intake grade so it sat flush with the ride plate and hull so it wasn't a big deal. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/Ski/2011-03-26_15-21-18_953.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/Ski/2011-03-26_15-20-45_772.jpg Wallowed out http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/Ski/2011-03-26_15-21-44_217.jpg Nozzel Pulled http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/Ski/2011-03-27_16-44-35_164.jpg Viens and anti cavitation cone. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/Ski/2011-03-27_16-44-09_707.jpg Vien from the other side with the stock impeller and HUGE nose cone. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/Ski/2011-03-27_16-44-23_761.jpg My Solars 4 blade http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/Ski/2011-03-26_15-22-41_425.jpg Here is the back of the ski with the nozzel and viens/impeller removed. What you are looking at is the pump shoe with the drive shalf in the middel and the ride plate at the bottom. Now it's time to pull the ride plate and pump shoe. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u57/playwithlinn/Ski/2011-03-27_16-43-55_808.jpg

Tindall2006
The navy did a study and a slightly rough surface is more hydrodynamic then a polished smooth one. I know the reason in my head, but I can't quite put it into words right now... This also goes along with how a boat will run faster in a small chop, then it will on a glass smooth day. The less water the boat is touching at one time, the less friction there is. Also, black numbers on that ski are just asking for trouble. I believe you either need white, or put a white background on the ski per ohio laws. Though it has been a few years since I have been there. Linn1647545492
Well considering I have not run any numbers on the ski in two years and not had one issue. I'm not to worried about being black on black. My ride plate is also going back to just being sanded.
Bahnstoermer1647545488
Fuck Linn, that's a lot more shit going on the water rocket! Linn1647545492
Fuck Linn, that's a lot more shit going on the water rocket! It sounded sick before with that FI sound spilling all over the lake as you ripped by, I'm sure it'll be even more nuts this year... With the help of Sam, Grant and Rhett we were able to get alot of things done today. The new charger, injectors, internal intercooler, ghetto ass catch can and plugs are in and a tone of shit was ripped. We spend the most time trying to get the stock exhaust baffle out of the ski. The stock water box is now 8 inches shorter and will be gutted next weekend and put back into the ski. The through hull parts will be here next week as well and ready to go on. I'm also waiting for the correct pump shoe to show up with the rest of the parts and then the ski will be on the water. You will love how it sounds this year, the charger will be more than twice as loud and the exhaust will scream.

Linn1647545492
Alignment tool showed up today and after waiting a week Riva finally shipped my new pump shoe. I want to have the water box gutting and welded back together this weekend along with the veins knife edged and the new prop in it's home.
