Forrest Gump 9
I can't believe I'm asking this question, but which vehicle is more reliable? A. Honda civic hybrid B. VW TDI Both cars are 120k miles, same year, and same price (about $6k) Or option C. which is just buy a cheap regular Civic for $3k and save the rest of the money for gas and repair. spankis
I can't think of a single good reason to buy a used hybrid. I can only think of a couple reasons to buy a new hybrid, and none of them are mileage or reliability related.
NOS50
Regular Civic.
Trouble Maker
For those prices, regular civic. Prices ignored, TDI. The civic hybrid is one of the last cars I would suggest, right behind the rental HHR I had earlier this week and a coworkers rental Escape this week. 6 Speed S4
TDI VW, the civic hybrid will be going through transmissions like a mofo! Damn starter clutch!
blown86lx
I vote civic. Those trannys are fucked up I think they use a CVT like a snowmobile. Keep the fluid changed u will be ok.
Xyster101
Regular Civic. How long does a Hybrid battery last? How long does a regular car battery last? What happens after 5-7 years when the battery doesn't work as good? You going to spend $3,000 or more for a new one? VW? Not reliable. Might be a blast to drive, but lots of coin to keep it up. CRed05
TDI. Hybrids are for faggots and morons. And as stated above, trans problems and expensive batteries.
SpaceGhost
Prius Batteries are reported to be good for 300k miles. My mom's used Prius has 100k and is fine, perfect car for a grandma who doesn't drive much. Almost no maintenence, uses hardly any gas for city driving. She has had it 8-9 Months and drives fine. Battery is good. I had it checked out by a Master certified Toyota tech before purchase. She has filled it up maybe 6 times.
