mrs.cos
So, its time for new helmets in my house, both are now completely retired, via DOT/SNELL standards, this year I read some people just saw them in half and throw them away so they arent re-used, but, for something that we've had so much fun with, it feels slightly traumatic thing to do. Is there someplace that recycles them, or uses them for training purposes (EMT/PD/FD)? If these were painted helmets i would consider keeping them and making a display with them, but they are just plain old white helmets. Sturg1647545502
Lol @ this thread. Throw them away. Of if youre worried about someone trying to reuse them, take a dump in it and then throw it away. Or blow them up with moarters a la 4th of July for a proper burial Ps arnt we still waiting on boob pictures?
oh8sti
I mean I'd still use them for dirt riding. Take an old football 1 bar off a football helmet and screw it into the other helmet and bam you got a nice helmet for dirt riding.

Draco-REX
Donate to SCCA autocross? I believe they reason she's getting rid of them is because they no longer meet SCCA standards. So a SCCA region wouldn't be able to use them.

mrs.cos
The helmets are no longer safe according to SCCA and DOT standards. Not just gonna throw them away, they will be destroyed before i do that, just was wondering if there was something more useful that could be done with them. Guest Z Fag Jr.
Best thing you can do is cut them in half and toss them, I used to work Fire/Ems we had to do the same with baby seats. Cordell
Plant flowers in them and put them on both sides of your front door. Cool car guy vase.
ansonivan
- insert large cantaloup - set up camera at base of drop - drop from high vantage point onto hard surface - post results here - profit - cut the strap out and toss helmet

I always wondered how one of the rated helmets would withstand birdshot at close range.
Draco-REX
Give them too a couple kids. Watch them run into each other head first. Or...shoot them. I don't think the helmets will protect the kids from being shot. :lolguy:
