It was dark obviously. All I saw was the car was white, and that was the shape of the taillights. My first thought was a Mercury of some sort, but obviously that wasn't right. I'm fairly sure it was a midsize sedan. But I can't find ANY car with those taillights.

I saw one of these when I was driving to work one morning. Tail lights looked identical to your drawing. It was dark and rainy and the car was black, but I'm pretty sure it was either a Volvo or Volkswagen. Some sort of mid-size sedan. Had some kind of cool LED Audi-ish headlights

I was behind these the other day, never seen on on the road and the tail lights look to me a little what you were describing only upside down. With just the running lights on I see it but when the brake lights came on it lit up the whole assembly.
