When it comes to pistons, JE Pistons has been a highly recognized name in the high performance industry for over 60 years. Their forged pistons are used by professional engine builders, race teams and gearheads who depend on JE Pistons to deliver the quality and performance they’ve come to expect. Performance Motorsports Inc. (PMi) is the parent company to JE Pistons, Wiseco Performance Products, ProX Racing Parts, K1 Technologies and Innovate Motorsports. In an effort to cut down on shipping cost and lead times, and to better serve the majority of their customers, JE will be relocating to Mentor, Ohio, over the next several months. The move started in July and is expected to continue through November until all of their CNC machines and supporting equipment is relocated. Manufacturing will continue in their Huntington Beach facility until all manufacturing capabilities are established in Ohio.

JE Pistons’ Sales Manager Alan Stevenson said in an official PR letter that JE Pistons will continue to retain a strong presence in California with a modern Tech Center to maintain sales, customer service, engineering and development. He assures us that there won’t be any disruptions in communications, orders or customer service.

They also plan to keep a warehouse in California for their West Coast customers, but will eventually move to a new location that will better support their needs as they continue to grow. Sean Crawford, Marketing Manager at JE, says, “We’re going to have two distribution centers now, so we’re basically within a couple days of the whole US”. He told us that it’s important to meet the needs of their customers and that this was the best possible solution. Many of their customers require custom pistons and the shipping costs will be greatly reduced when expediting custom orders.

Another benefit of moving to Ohio is that it will allow them to expand their internal coating capabilities. Crawford says, “We have other things in the works that are ground-breaking technology that we can do at our new location that we could never do in California”. He continued, “If we want to step it up to the next level, we have to make sure that everything is done in house. We have to be closer to our customers”.

This move will give JE a major competitive advantage, and allow them to be the fastest manufacturer to get custom products to their customers. Many of their customers are at the races when they need their custom parts and being closer will save on overnight shipping charges because they’ll be within a day or two of ground shipping. “Racers are racers”, Crawford says, “and the faster they can get it, the better”.

JE is committed to maintain their high-quality standards and has made a capital investment of more than $1 million to the Ohio facility. JE Pistons is the only performance piston manufacturer to earn the QS-9000 quality standard. Their CNC machines are state-of-the-art, and their purpose-designed forgings allow JE to maintain exacting specifications on all of the pistons they produce, keeping tolerances to within millionths of an inch.

For more information, contact JE Pistons through their web site, and look forward to continued support and customer service as you have come to expect in the past.

The rest of that are they are moving the machines in with the rest of the wiseco equipment. So they will be in the same building. Seems like a waste to me. Just Kill JE and save a bundle on packaging and dead weight management.
