Booze in Columbus

I'm not sure if it's legal in Ohio. Lots of crazy booze laws here when it comes to liquor stores.

They don't specialize in liquor, but Gentile's in Grandview is my go-to for hard to find beer. They might at least be able to point you in the right direction.

In Ohio none of the liquor agencies (stores) actually own their own inventory, the state does and they're just allowed to sell it. This is only for liquor above 40 proof or whatever you can normally buy in the grocery store. Because of this, they have a system that tracks every bottle of liquor in the state and can tell you which stores have what product. I learned this when looking for a specific whiskey a couple of years ago.

Call them and tell them what you're looking for and they'll be able to tell you if it's sold in Ohio, if anyone has it, and even how many bottles they have in stock.

Is there anywhere in columbus that puts their booze inventory online?

I shop in Cali alot, http://www.bevmo.com or http://www.klwine.com

I am trying to find Jewel of Russia Ultra (hand painted) for a friend.

Can find it all over Columbus.

There is a State Liquor Store on 5th Ave in Grandview, next to Jimmy Johns and Burger King which carries it, as I have bought it there several times.

I think they charge upwards of $90/bottle for it.

I didn't know about this when I was looking for two expensive specific bottles of liquor. I had actually seen 1 of them in a store randomly, but the other 1 I had never seen in a store. I ordered them from Hudson Wine Market. I was very happy with their service and the bottle I could find locally was $50 less through them than in the store locally.

Akula, the have what you are looking for, but if kshymkiw83 is right it's the same price.

I found it for $54/bottle in Cali at KLWine. I am going there next week so I will pick some up then. Thanks for the thread though, Ohio is retarded when it comes to this. I go to Cali and walk into KL or BevMo and its like Walmart for booze.

I know, we try not to go there often... it get expensive quickly. :masturboy: Really fun place to just browse and put together a nice dinner out of ideas you get from walking around and seeing what they have.

P.S. one of the bottles I ordered from HWM was Johnny Walker Blue... but it was a gift for my brother-in-law.

Lol, who do you have buying you $1200 bottles of Scotch, and can you introduce me to them?

I wish I knew someone buying me 30 year old scotch! I guess I can always dream.

Nicest bottle I've purchased was Jameson Vintage Reserve from Weilands, but it was also a gift. Luckily that gift was for my father-in-law and he regularly lets me have a pour of it when we are over at his place which is nice.

I'm personally not a big fan of Schotch/Whiskey/Burbon, pretty much anything in that family so I wasn't too heart broken handing it over to him. It probably also helped that I bought myself a nice bottle of rum at the same time, so I could drink some of it while he drank his scotch. He had just gotten back from grad school in England and brought a few Cuban's that we smoked that night with our drinks. :fuckyeah: He got pretty fucked up that night, I can say I was feeling pretty good too. I said something about cigars and drinks the next time he came back into town and he declined and only had 1 of the two.
