LPFSTheFett
I'm in the process of building a new home and want to add a pole barn. I can't decide if I want wood or metal. Does anybody have any recommendations for companies that do good work? I'm wanting a 40x50. Thanks! Jason
STEVE-O
I can't remeber the company but I saw good review on those DIY ones the advertised on tvaybe someone can remeber the name. They are pretty well priced also.

harmonda
I used Durabilt from Canton,OH. I tried local smaller builders but resorted to the bigger company after a couple false-starts. They use Amish crews. Work was fast and very precise. I went with wood because I live in a historic home. Otherwise I would have gone with the metal and it's low-maintenance and long warranty. DTM Brian
I'm wanting a 50x150. Thanks! Jason Fixed!!!
Second Gen
I also used Durabuilt out of Canton and it turned out nice (But mine was only a 32 X 24).. Only really challenges I had was around the weather and the buiding permit crap.

GSXRAntwon
what permits were required for the pole barn? A pole barn permit
smokin5s
the permit required is the same as you would need for a shed.... I paid .10 a sq foot. I also used Yoder Lumber for mine. Metal exterior is the way to go, but insulate the hell out of it!
TurboNova
my buddy is using some amish family. There price was right and he had some pretty custom stuff done and wanted a different pitch roof ill see if I can get the contact info
Sam1647545489
I would recommend using some Amish guys to construct the building. They are stupid cheap. Something like 100$ a day.
Troy2285
I have built about 10 over the years. When you get your prices make sure everyone is using same gauge metal, spacing the trusses the same distance, and are using same poles. There are several different ways to build pole structures, some ways are allot cheaper than others. A Cheap prices isn't always a good deal. FYI

spankis
Ballpark for me here, what would total costs on an oversized 2-car garage run? Say 25x25 or 25x30ish. Most places require an official quote request, but I'm seeing anywhere from 6k to 10k.... sound right?

Just casually stroll up to one of their homes and ask em' or what? head to amish country and you will see lumber yard signs. I can give you the number of the driver for the Amish people who built mine (they can't have phones, but can use their drivers phone all day long)
Troy2285
Our last build was a 25 x 25 two garage doors, one man door, concrete sidewalk and floors, stud framed was around 14k. Siding and single finish
WheelSpin
64 metals in St. Louisville We bought the materials from them and had local amish help build it. I'll have to ask on total cost but they were both fair on price.

LPFSTheFett
Fixed!!! I agree! 50x150 would be pretty awesome! LOL I got a quote from 64 metals in St. Lousville. Came out to 35k for a 40x50 or 27k for a 30x50. 8k for concrete (5") and 9k for labor 9k. Seems like there is certainly some room for cheaper labor prices. Of course I dont know what it takes to build one either. lol
