Building my kid a lowered radio flyer wagon

Picked up another one today at random. Me and my buddy was cruising home from the junkyard down a side street and saw a guy hauling this in his other wagon. Stopped and asked if he wanted to sell it, told him I would give him $20 for it. Thing is set up for a motor, has the axle on it still.

Money talks, I have another radio flyer here already that I am going to build. I could use the money I make off the lifted one I got today towards getting my car tuned.

Oh yeah, I extended and painted the handle, also replaced the side markers with some CRB 1000rr lights. They are a little darker amber and have a black trim panel rather than the 1980s chrome. Pic quality sucks, blame my IPhone, I do

Looks great, no longer a "stance nation" wagon, but a hot rod wagon.

Today I decided it was time to install some lights. I picked up a rechargeable 6v battery and charger as well as some LED neon lights. The LED's were real easy to install since they are thing strips and have 3m tape on the backside of them. In order to keep the wagon clean looking and conceal the battery I cam up with an idea. I made a template of the front part of the tub on the wagon, transfered that to cardboard and eventually to some plywood. I am going to hide the battery inside a box that doubles as a cup holder. My dad gave me a jeep top that he had laying around, I am going to use it to wrap the box in to keep it waterproof.

It's a lot lower than a stock radio flyer, that's low enough for me. I did tell my buddies last night that I will build a non functional slammed one at some point and sell it to some ricer cause I know they will eat it up.

I love the functionality of this one since we take nightly walks with it now.

Pretty sweet, I have built a couple more since building the one for my son:

This one featured a vtec camshaft for the front axle which rotates when the wagon is pulled. A 1940-1950's Mopar headlight that works and is controlled via a foxbody shifter with b&m knob

Then I just built this one for my nieces for Christmas

Everyone says that until I tell them how much it cost to build one haha.

There's over $200 in the pink wagon, the sandblasting, powder coating and hydro dipping was the bulk of the money. I traded wheels with a buddy of mine who was building a lowered one so those were free, then had to buy bolts to put it all together.

Didn't want to create a whole new thread, so figured I would just use this one to keep sharing pics of wagons as I build them. I have a niece on the way in October and figured I might as well build her a wagon. I picked this wagon up for $20 and sent it off to be sandblasted/powder coated. I am pretty happy with how it's turned out so far, still gotta get wheels and a seat cushion for it, which should be done in the next couple weeks.
