Back from Washington DC

Spent about 10 days up and down the east coast with DC and the Beach as our main stops. I purposely just took a basic Bridge Camera with a long zoom and left all the heavy gear at home. Had more fun this time just snapping away and focusing on the kids and good times. Got some decent shots just the same. Here's small sample. Hit F11 and/or buy a bigger monitor

 

Wife had to visit the Supreme Court. Like most all of the building, this was under renovations. Gotta love the screen-printed protective material they used while work was under way.

Unfortunately some dumb-asses vandalized the the Lincoln Memorial. They said it will eventually be okay after they sandblast it with walnuts.

We saw Obama's motorcade and caught his limo in front of the big-house. Lots of snipers were in the yard and on the roof too. Security cameras abound of course.

Tim sorry to troll your thread but I recently got back from DC and have some pics to share....why start another thread!?

 

BTW I was so pissed to hear about the Abe Lincoln memorial. Not only what it stands for but for another reason.... My fiancee and I were there ~10pm at night. We were going to come back the next day and look around inside, but wanted to see it at night. To our surprise it was open, tons of people there. Meant we could do more with our time but it was way cool that it was 'always open'. Its too bad that punks like this will potentially lead to the infringement of everyone else's liberty, but thats always been the case.

 

The capitol is a sweet building. What was totally boss was that we got lucky and somehow found an open time slot for a tour of the inside. Picture of the dome below. Also having gone to London in February and having been in St. Paul's cathedral (same architect/idea?), the similarities were very cool to observe.

 

Also we went on 4th of July. Something special about watching fireworks there. I will say I was all set up to get the Washington monument in the foreground with the fireworks, but the ranger that told me where they were launching from was an idiot

I still remember school field trip to see all those monuments when I was in middle school. I cant wait to return it is one of the few places that remind you how great our country really is. (no troll face)
