IBAUCLAPlaya
Hi there. I recently moved to the Columbus area. Originally from Cleveland but been in florida for past 4 years but happy to be back in Ohio. I've been into cars since the day I started driving and have owned a wrx that i autoxed on a national level, 400whp stock turbo e85 Evo, s2000 and my current 97 supra twin turbo all original with slight bpu. I went to ips to have my rear fenders rolled on Friday to fit my new ccw classics 11.5 wide in the rear with 315s. Brent (I think that was his name) was awesome and took his time rolling them because he mentioned every supra he has ever done has had the paint crack. The driver side was completed with no problem but when I got home I noticed the passenger side looks to have had the slightest cracks. I'm not sure if it makes sense to go ahead and get the fender resprayed based on the minimal cracking, but want to get ahead of it and use the CR advice of the best body shop around to respray the fender if needed. Of course I'm looking for a fair price, but I'm more concerned on a great job on my 16 year old car that's all original including paint. Please share your insights. Looking forward to meeting some of you in the future as you'll probably see me at some of the ovr autox events this year (spectating not driving...yet) TIA Matt
Tripleskate
Hi Matt, can you take a picture of the damage? On my old Mazda, I waited a bit too long to roll the fenders after trying to fit an aggressive wheel/tire combo and ended up rubbing so bad that the inner-fender lip paint cracked. Since it was on the inside only, and otherwise not visible when looking at the car, I took some 2000 grit sandpaper, smoothed it out, and touched it up with some black metallic paint I had lying around. Just a thought.
IBAUCLAPlaya
I tried getting a pic with my iPhone and none of the photos came out well. I'll try getting a pic with my SLR camera and posting shortly. Thanks for the feedback.
IBAUCLAPlaya
Here are two pics. The first is at the very top of the fender and right on the crease. The second is toward the rear of the fender, and is more on the inside part of the fender lip. Third pic is the car with new wheels http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn228/IBAUCLAPlaya/photo23_zps414a94a9.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn228/IBAUCLAPlaya/photo31_zps16cfd10a.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn228/IBAUCLAPlaya/photo14_zpsd873b73d.jpg Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics
BIGGU
IMO just spray it with clear coat or just put a good coat of wax and call it done.
IBAUCLAPlaya
Thanks I may do that, but would still like a recommendation for a good body shop if possible.
