Sam1647545489
As many of you know, I was able to buy Casey's CTSV back from him after he was in a accident. I bought this car site unseen except for the pics he posted on here. I thought the car was not hit as bad as it actually was. In the wreck, the frame did get hit and tweeked some. Not alot but some. As soon as I got the car delivered we got it on the lift and took a look at what was really damaged. First and obvious the front driver side needed body parts. After getting under the car, we saw the subframe that holds the motor had been bent as well. So much that the starter was wedged against the passenger side motor mount. We saw that this was gonna be a bigger task then we thought. So first thing was to get the old damaged body parts off the car. Once we did that, it was straight to the frame rack to start the pulling process. Once we got the car on the rack and started pulling on it, we noticed the frame had been tweeked just hair. So we started with the subframe. Pulling on it to get the front tire back to where it needed to be. It was pushed back into the fender from impact. Once we got it to where we thought it needed to be, we started pulling the frame straight. After about 8-9 hours of just pulling and straightening, we got everything within spec. Next we took the car back to the shop and started the metal forming process of the front apron, or the front inner fender piece behind the headlight. We thought about cutting this piece out and getting a new one, but Chris was confident he could form it back to look like normal. We spent 6 hours of just metal forming to get it back to where it needed to be. It turned out perfect. Now that we had everything straight, metal formed, it was time to install new body parts. Was able to order the body parts and got them at a good deal. Got a new hood, bumper and driver fender. Picked up some ebay headlights, fog lamp and radiator. Got everything installed and lined up. Now it was time to tape and paint the car. Picked up some paint and started to spray it. Spent another 7-9 hours taping and prepping and painting. Paint prep is not fun. Got it all painted then spent another day wet sanding and buffing. We did this all day one day then did 3 more times of buffing then waxing to get the shine I was happy with. Here are the pics in order from delivery to finish. I cannot thank my friend Chris for helping me with this project. He showed me alot of new things to do with painting, pulling, and what it takes to take a wrecked car and turn it back into a drivable car. Without him I dont think I could of done it. We had around about 60-70 hrs total in this whole project. Alot of patience is needed when doing body work and painting a car. Also cant thank Casey enough for giving me the chance to buy the car from him and giving me a great deal on it. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/673/cbvcOz.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/743/xcZLW7.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/661/o65dth.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/745/EyYBAB.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/661/asggbK.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/540/NGjfhG.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/540/FWNHHv.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/908/o8FF9c.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/537/ER5CBo.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/540/oH7FIQ.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/745/J3Ldsv.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/673/XnUJZF.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/540/Sk9i4v.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/905/gcPXIY.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/912/QSyai7.jpg Last pic is alittle custom radio message Chris left me on my car. In total I had just roughly over 1500$ in fixing this car. Alot of time and effort and alot of favors I will owe people but in the end as you can see it was worth it. zeitgeist57
Well done, Sam...well done! Great to see a really nice car rebuilt so well, and back on the road...and I loves me a budget-build! Keep that car in a garage or polish those eBay headlights to avoid some quick crazing of DAT CHINESE PLASTIC.
