great job on the body work btw to whoever did it. The reflection on the paint surface is

very consistent with no waves.

that better.....

Better.

Body work was done primarily by dad with a little assistance from me and one of my uncles (moms brother). Paint was all done by dad and the same uncle. Before this project dad had never done body work at all. Uncle had a body shop in the late 80's-mid 90's IIRC.

Makes sense, I thought it looked like that hood had been beaten out on an anvil.....

Majestically forged.

In all reality all body parts are original aside from the floor pans, a cab corner, and 2 other small areas on the cab. Hood, fenders, bed, etc, are 100% original metal.

Looking good buddy! Waiting for the LS swap ;)

Ha! Thanks. You're gonna be waiting awhile. ;)

The seat is done and installed. This was also 100% done by dad with a little assistance from my brother and I. We looked at the orig seat make up and materials, sourced our own, and voila. Now the interior is almost complete.

Well, the first "cruise" happened today...kinda. We got the hood installed. Told dad it was time to drive it. Obviously it's not done and we were worried about the lack of a bed allowing rocks to be thrown up from the rear tires so he just backed it out and drove it around the property. The engine has ran in the past but today was the first time the truck was actually driven and moving on it's own power in over 3 decades. We both got a little emotional thinking of how excited papaw and granddad would have been had they still been with us, but overall we were all grinning ear to ear.

Thanks fellas.

Been working on the bed slowly but shirley. Only need to cut out one piece approx 5"x8" to weld in new metal but other than that it was in great shape. Can't wait to get it done and on there so we can REALLY drive this thing around without fear of rocks being thrown up by the rear tires.

Hoping the bed will be painted and on in the next week or so but for now here's a pic of my dad taking my 1 and 6 year old for a ride because they both insisted. More so my youngest who points to, "pap's tuck!" and exclaims, "ROOM! ROOM!"

Today dad painted the bed and rear fenders. Looks not bad for someone who never even thought to attempt painting a vehicle, welding, or doing body work, before this project. They weren't terrible to begin with but I'm still pretty proud of my pops.

Today we also learned that The Pumpkin Run was cancelled. That was our big push. To get this done and have this years show be her debut. I'm really bummed for the old man.
