Garage Lift

Recommended Posts

I have started searching for an in garage lift and cannot find a lift that meets all of my needs.

It's a regular 2 car garage so a 12 foot 2/4 post will not fit.

Ideally I want something that I can park another car under, but the only style that this seems to work with is the 4 post ramp that you drive up and doesn't appear you can do wheel/suspension work on.

Do they make adapters for the drive up where you can put the car on jack stands (does not seem safe) or do they make a 'portable' that raises the car high enough to get another one under?

I know that when I stopped at a dealer in Michigan they used a 4 post lift on my car that had another little lift along the inside of each rail that then lifted the car another 6 inches or so they could take off the wheels.

Most "storage lifts" aren't going to have rolling jacks in the middle. The type of 4 post lift that gets used in most shops that would have a rolling jack might be cost prohibitive. I would suggest to keep looking and figure out what compromises you want to make.

In theory you could drive over the middle, but wouldnt want to put my car through that every time I drove in the garage.

The ones I've worked on all had sliding jacks in the middle. Something like this...

I have never seen the drive up that had this option. That could be a winner.

Doesn't go up high enough to park another car under.

This is the one I recently bought. I have 10' 6" ceiling and I can easily walk under the Camaro. I know I could put two cars in that spot.

This may be the winner. Scary cheap though.

Another great option if it fits.

Thanks all.

I have 2 Backyard Buddy lifts in my 2 car garage and my ceiling height is 11'. They sell similar jack lifts like above to go with their lifts. Top notch lifts, located in Warren OH, and remember that you get what you pay for. Don't buy some cheap Chinese lift and pray that it doesn't collapse on your car underneath.

Currently building a house and this is the lift I am going with.

In my current place, I looked at this lift due to restricted garage height. Reviews turned me off after some mention of scraping/steep angle onto the lift.

Infinity Homes. Semi custom builder out here.

Very nice. Semi custom is a great option for most people/places. You can really water down the architecture price and get some great labor rates. A lot of the mountains are true custom, which is where the majority of the building we have been involved with is.
