Figured out the trans issue. Been driving it almost every day for the past few weeks.

 

Had a stock Fbody muffler installed. Sounded like shit. Swapped it out with a magnaflow 3" in, 2.5" out. Waiting on the tips to arrive. It runs pretty good. Still need to get my wideband installed so i can actually tune it.

The PCM. I had the one from the buick in there thinking it would work fine but I had a 98 GTP bin file flashed to it due to VATS being on the buick and not on the GTP.

 

While I pissed around with this, that for months I ended up swapping the physical PCM with a different service number. Soon as I swapped it wha-fucking-la it worked.

 

Now most will say "why didn't you swap it out before"? I did when I first got the car running and it didn't change anything. Since January I got a new pre-made harness and apparently some of the wires were in the wrong spots. So some of it was the harness, and some was the PCM. Timing I guess.

 

It's pretty fun to drive. Got most of the cruising "tune" done. Just need to get the wideband installed and see if I'm already maxing my stock injectors or the tune is just super rich. I'm going with super rich at this point.

Haven't updated this thread since April. A few things happened. For those who don't see the crap I upload on Facebook here's a rundown:

 

Went to Trails. Went 12.6 @ 108:

 

 

Went to the Dragway 42 CR day, went 12.55

 

 

Found a set of Beretta GTZ wheels. Largest stock wheel GM made that's 5x100.. 16x7. Striped and repainted them.

Drove it up to Detroit for a wbody/3800 gathering in July. Found there is basically NO room if you have a passenger. Car ran great until one the way home sprung a leak in the trans cooler line:

"Grand Am brake upgrade" lol. Paid $25 for two new calipers and rotors. They are an upgrade since all 4 corners on a Fiero are single rotors. non vented. Tossed these on in the summer sometime:

Installed a rear sway bar. It's a Front sway bar installed in the back since there isn't one from the factory:

Made a set of coilovers for roughly $300. This let me run a 255/50/16 Drag radial.

Painted the blower, put a ported lower intake on it for the intercooler that I can't seem to get to seal so I just left it until I decide to mess with it.

Then finally picked these up in November from tire rack for $150 shipped for both. Plan is to toss these on the back, Put the rear 225/50/16's on the front and sell the 205/55/16's on CL.

"Fabricated" the rest of the trunk so I can actually put something back there. On the trip to Detroit it only got to about 120 degrees max in 80 degree weather so that's not too bad. Took the existing heat shield, wrapped it in header wrap. Then took the bottom of the trunk out, flattened it and got some of that metal sticky flashing stuff and wrapped it.

Edit.. nevermind. Now I know what you're talking about. The headlights lol. Yeah every time I go over 100 mph they pop up. apparently I can cut a hole in the hood or somewhere in the front trunk area and it won't happen.

Painted it using Rustoleum High Temp BBQ grill paint. Thinned with Acetone and used some Valspar enamel hardener. Use my $10 HF gun to spray it. Cost was about $60-$70 with the acetone and hardener/paint.

It does have a slight brown tinge to it in the sun. When the sun isn't on it it's a decent Satin Black. Didn't put any clear on it. Probably won't.

Also, holy crap someone put a 455 olds in one?!?! that's cool. It's interesting that the guy with the LS4 is 100 lbs lighter than your car, are the 3800s all steel?

Yep. It won't take much to go sideways from a dead stop. I still haven't done any donuts or anything in it. Afraid to break something. I generally only get on it when I'm going straight. It's still sketchy when I'm going 50-60 and hit it on the freeway.

v8 fieros are one thing, but an olds 455 with a toronado FWD TH425 is a massive combo in size. Plus it's blown with an intercooler?

Yeah that was pretty cool. I talked to the guy with the yellow race car on the right. Very cool dude and one hell of a car. Top speed is a little over 200 I think.

 

The one main guy who put on the show.. Fred, had like 5-6 cars just in that room lol.

3800s are iron block and heads, LS4 is all aluminum. An LS4 shouldn't be a hard swap in a Fiero, that's what I'd want to do. LS4 is a V6 bellhousing bolt pattern, has a very tight fitting accessory drive, and kind of went in place of supercharged 3800s.
