Geeto67
when? That has to be the most disappointing article I have ever read - the headline was longer and more informative. That sucks.
zeitgeist57
Any 'food' coffee trucks that could come there every Saturday morning? I spoke with Bruce @ Casto (He's got an older Z and is a regular of our group when he has the time). He says that any outside vendor selling on the property is a violation of the contracts they have with the lessee's (other shops). It could introduce an ugly battle with any franchise that wants to take Casto/JLL to task. In addition, if we tried to bring in outside not-for-profits that sold coffee/donuts for fundraising, then we would be offering up the opportunity for every charity to participate - and that's a dangerous Pandora's box to deal with. At this point, you buy coffee at the Starbucks in Barnes and Noble, or you fend for yourself for the time being. There's nothing stopping you from bringing your own drink to the parking lot. 99StockGT
Well that's no good. Always been curious how they could never staff enough to handle Saturday mornings though. Regularly waiting 30+ minutes just to get my $5 ultra manly coffee was rather offputting. How's the relationship with the movie theater folks? Doc1647545523
Maybe we should join the other columbus cars & coffee (.com). They seem like great guys. Was just a thought, completely understand why it's not possible. Yeah, I'll get some swill from my local coffee shop, but I'll definitely miss their jalapeno cheddar bagels. Agreed with others, bummer all of the way around!
cstmg8
I have a keurig....... J/k but this does suck, I'm sure that location just didn't bring enough weekday commuter/foot traffic like something downtown etc.. On another note, I don't think many people attend for the coffee. Perhaps a name change is in order. Buggies n Beer? Wips n sips maybe? 😎 Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

zeitgeist57
The reason it's closing down is JLL owns the property (Casto manages it locally) and they felt that the CoreLife Eatery (http://eatatcore.com/) would be a better demographic fit instead of Johnny Rockets and Cup O'Joe. http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/donshocked.gif

I can attest the line for coffee was out the door, and down the walk. Sucks as I think this will inevitably kill this location at the least. Cup of Joe's lease I believe was expiring and no option was going to be renewed which is why there is action now. Core life eatery will flunk out of there, my guess is 12 months...Underwhelmed the two times I have been to the Polaris location...High labor costs, large investment footprint, slow throughput, not enough 12 dollar salads to make it work IMO. zeitgeist57
I interviewed most of the groups (outside of Doc and the CR regulars) and the unanimous decision is to stay. Coffee or no coffee shop, we're not going anywhere. Casto is fine with that.
