Bachelor Party ideas/help

I'm the best man for my best friend's wedding. He is truly like a brother to me so I want to make it good for him.

He did set a few requests: 24-48 hours (for the party length) so no long party, relatively close, and incorporate some of his favorite activities.

I'm cool with the first two but the last, a solid no, I'm not getting shot up with airsoft or paintball. I'm as agile as a bull in a china shop and the world's easiest target.

I was thinking of maybe boating/waterboarding, something that can include a large group of guys (10-15, possibly more).

Do you know of any awesome places that's beautiful, has cool activities to do, and relatively close (he was vague on the distance but I would say driving distance, no long hauling)

Full disclosure, this is my first time as a best man and first bachelor party

Burr Oak state park is a cool place to rent a cabin. You can find some good ones on Airbnb and VRBO.

When I planned a bachelor weekend we went down to Cincy and had an absolutely blast. We had a bit longer but it involved a couple rounds of golf, a Reds game (club level/open bar), bourbon trail, the riverboat casino, etc.

Hocking Hills cabin, truckload of beer, go kayaking/canoeing, bam. It'll only cost about $130 per person for two nights with a group that size.

does that include Hillbilly hookers or classy escorts? ;)

Cedar Point? Kelleys Island? Put-in-Bay?

If you want something low key, just rent a house/cabin on a lake or in Hocking Hills. Drink a ton, swim, canoe, smoke cigars in a hot tub, play Mario Kart, beer pong, whatever

I did my bachelor party in Hocking. Outside of it ultimately leading to divorce, it was a hell of a time.

Paintballing is fun as hell. Doesn’t hurt nearly as much as you’d think. Some places in Westerville and Grove City

So Paul, Not Brian, and Alex how did they like them?

Depends on the group, honestly, because it's just you guys in a cabin in the woods - there's no real outside entertainment. Our group was a bunch of beer-drinking loony toons who setup a slip n slide down the hill with a sketchy ramp and pool at the bottom. We got fucked up and had a blast.

What's your budget? What else does he like? I'd rent a place near a lake and get a boat. I hear Apple Valley is pretty cool and they've got a night scene. Go a little farther to Deep Creek and you can rent a big house, do some boating and hiking around the Wisp Ski Resort. Spent 20+ years down there so I can give you some advice about that area.

Another idea is go down and do some of the Bourbon Trail in KY. I did that last year and had a lot of fun. Beautiful country down around Lexington/Louisville too.

So because you aren't good at paintball means it's a no for the party?

You sound like a shitty best man.

Counterpoint, forcing a bunch of rank amateurs to play paintball with someone who does it all the time is fun for... who exactly?

Planned activities at bachelor parties are tough, especially the more people you add. I did a bachelor party where we did skeet shooting and go karts. About 2/3 of the group found the skeet shooting tedious (and regrettably sober), and another 2/3 of the group found the go-karts expensive and pointless (and also regrettably sober). The party was kind of awkward until we made it to dinner (super late at that point because we spent all day registering for activities) and started drinking. Everyone likes drinking.

+1 on camping/cabin + booze, but also +1 on knowing the audience and finding something that everyone will find enjoyable. Yeah it's the groom's event, but if he has any empathy he won't have fun if his friends are bored.

Trashbag full of blow, several women with questionable morals and values, lots of grilled meats. That's how you party like a man...

Dont forget a large ziplock bag full of downers to bring you back down from the blow if need be. Need to find that perfect balance...maybe some penicillin just in case ;)
